Oh, good. I was getting worried that President Obama and other key members of his staff had lied to us.

Well. In some way I guess. But Rice and others knew Terrorists were the main culprit fairly quickly.. Just taking out the word does not negate the who was referenced in the report..

I still think Obama and Rice lied to the American people... To cover their asses right before the election..

"The intelligence community assessed from the very beginning that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack." DNI spokesman Shawn Turner tells CBS News. That information was shared at a classified level -- which Rice, as a member of President Obama's cabinet, would have been privy to.

          lol

And to believe this whole concept - that the DNI had pulled out the terrorism reference, and everyone in the White House at that point forgot that they'd watched the whole thing unfold on TV, and didn't think it was necessary to correct Rice (or Obama) as they repeatedly spouted the cleansed party line.

Obama CLEARLY knew he was lying when h said it was not terrorism. Rice undoubtedly as well. Anyone not in a coma knew they were lying...

Something else was going on in Benghazi that preculded a response by US military - be it illegal arms trafficking, illegal interrogations, or some other nefarious activity that everyone knows the US governemnt is involved in, but it cannot admit, and cannot allow us military troops to discover accidentally. Not being able to respond to save people on the ground required a cover story - ANY cover story. So they made up this tripe about it being a reaction to a video. And the fawning press accepted it - at least until after the election. And a blackmailed CIA director complied - at least until after the election.

I'm not sure what was going on at the Consular Annex in Benghazi, but there was obviously something. No US President is barbaric enough to leave embassy personnel on the ground without aid, when aid was available, without a damned good reason. But that reason would be highly embarrassing - especially to the President who said that his government simply doesn't do those unappealing things anymore.

Demonstrators rejected a call from Egypt's Islamist President Mohamed Mursi for a national dialogue after deadly clashes around his palace, demanding the "downfall of the regime" - the chant that brought down Hosni Mubarak.
Egypt has been plunged into turmoil since Mursi issued a decree on November 22 awarding himself wide powers and shielding his decisions from judicial review.

              • If there's a thread about the Benghazi hearings, I was unable to find it. Mods, please move this post to the appropriate thread if it exists.

Thoughts about Clinton's comments here? It seems to me she's saying that it doesn't matter if the government was lying to us about it. All that matters is that it was finally acknowledged that it was a terrorist attack.

Wow. That was awful. What difference does it make whether it was a random act of violence, or the average citizens outraged by a youtube video they never saw, or whether it was a pre-planned terrorist attack? It makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it? Not only to determine who did it an kill them (i.e. justice), but to prevent it from happening again. What difference does it make? Unbelievable.

                        • I must say Hillary has moved up on my likeability scale quite a bit.

That doesn't mean I don't think she will spin (politicians are allowed to call lieing spinning) the heck out of this.

I am coming more and more to the conclusion the fact there are few, if any, politicians I can trust. I blame both the public and the press for this. The press especially has come to aid the democrats in excusing or just ignoring their spin. The public votes in people based on what is in it for me.

I freely admit I do that. Why, because I need my rat up there fighting against your rat. A non-rat will get killed. Just ask Romney.

They should be. The POTUS and Secretary of State allegedly lied to the American people about what happened there, and a US citizen was jailed because of the lie.

There needs to be more Representatives and Senators like Sen. Paul. He isn't afraid to ruffle feathers by not bowing down to Dear Leader and his goons.
