I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Nope. The best of those clips are distinguished by the woman's comments. They fell flat this time.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostHitler finds out Walker won - one of the best of a tired franchise

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Come on frank, even my most communist friends agree with me that the potential for unions to exploit their members is high, especially with the large ones.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostWhere do you get the notion unions oppress their members? How many are or have been union members?
For the record, I have been a part of a union as a graduate student, and all in all it was a decent experience, but it didn't leave me feeling like it was an institution I couldn't live without.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Pellegrino, I didn't feel exploited as a union member. I felt exploited by the bosses.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostCome on frank, even my most communist friends agree with me that the potential for unions to exploit their members is high, especially with the large ones.

This thread is quickly turning into a bash frank ryan thread, but I'll add this about communists and unions. communists were notoriously hard to organize into unions because the wanted the whole damn revolution. Places like Boulder and Berkeley had their own set of problems because the commies were so damned idealistic.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostCome on frank, even my most communist friends agree with me that the potential for unions to exploit their members is high, especially with the large ones.

I work for the Feds and we have several unions that represent the employees. I can't join the union because I'm a supervisor so I don't have a dog in the fight. I've found the unions to be very reasonable and fair. Without them a large number of employees would be illegally denied built-in pay raises and promotions. Our hospital would be worse off without them.

I don't know much about or care about the union issue but the issues of cushy public sector jobs and out of control government spending are huge and I'm glad the voters came down on the right side of these debates.
A huge part of what bankrupted Greece was government jobs that paid in many cases twice what equivalent private sector jobs paid and almost twice as much as what Germany paid equivalent workers. Now Germany is supposed to bail the Greeks out?
