                      I seem to remember this being a voting rationale used in 2008 too. How'd that work out for ya?

                          For me? I voted for McCain. Let me introduce myself my name is Goatnapper'96. In my family my mother was the family moderate because she only voted for George Wallace once.

                          Saying that I think President Bush also was an awful President even though he and I share more ideological congruencies than the current awful President.

                              It went a lot deeper than that. In fact if Obama loses this next election it really speaks to how awful a President he has been. The overwhelming majority of Americans want him to succeed by nature of his historical Presidency. For enough to overcome that emotional draw and vote for his opponent is a real indicator to how poorly he has led our country.

                                I don't agree with this. The expectation should be for Obama to lose by a landslide given the current economy. The single most important factor in determining who wins an election is the state of the economy. If Obama wins despite the current state of the economy, it would be a tremendous anomaly given how American elections are usually linked to the economy.

                                A bad economy does not mean that the president was bad.

                                The real political question is why Romney hasn't been able to take the lead.

                                I also think people overstate the connection president's influence over the economy. Congress has a much bigger influence over the economy than the president does.
