I can't believe you were allowed into this country to obtain a university educuation. What a waste.

Well, she will learn her lesson for reporting without a license. 8 years in prison sounds about right.

Or do you think they will just chop off her head?
Its adorable you cannot think of any thing less .

You are a lawyer ,i suppose , how could you be so sure ,without even looking at the indictment papers??

Thought you attended college in the USA. If I am mistaken, your positions on issues like this are slightly more understandable, though no less ridiculous.

You are kinda "cute" waving freedom flag wearing "what happened happened" t-shirt ,dragging the bag of glory and honor, the Almighty US Army has given to you by the way.
That you need a license to be a reporter in your country, and that you support the law, is just another reason why I think that you absolutely deserve the government you have. Eight years for reporting without a license; secret trials; Iran sucks! If you live in a world of shit, after awhile, you start to think that your shit actually does smell like roses. It doesn't. You're full of it.

              And this article:
              http://www2.irna.ir/es/news/view/lin...7399124324.htm

Shows why your state-run news agency should have their licenses revoked....this is terrible reporting, and, Persia is not Iran...never the twain shall meet.

                Just for the clarification.

I did not say she deserves this verdict ,because of her illegal journalism ,but the reason "behind" her disobedience which is allegedly espionage.

I'll be sure to never set foot in Iran; I don't want my tongue cut out because I say "shit" or some other euphemism for the human feces that you and your countrymen spew out in defense of your despotic government.

Ask yourself this....what would the penalty be in Iran vs. the United States for someone saying, in public, that Mohammad was the uncertificated child of an unlicensed mother.

In my country, I know that there is no criminal or civil penalty. In your country, I would fear for my life. And even if I said the same thing about Jesus Christ in my country, the government would not impose any penalty or other castigation on me.

That's freedom. That's why I cringe whenever you try and defend your country's backwards, Medieval, and despotic laws. You've let a bunch of backwards men gain control of your daily lives; you have no freedom, nor do you seem to want, and certainly not clamor, for it. You are happy to live in fear because the dialogue is civil and you don't have to worry about people casting aspersions at your precious religious icons. If your faith is so sure that you're willing to give up freedoms to keep people from insulting it, then your faith is juvenile and not based on the sound philosophical principles which Islam embraced in its distant past until you let the jaded extremists, always talking about "founding civilization" or some other nationalistic jingoistic bullshit, take control of your faith and government. The Persians were conquered by the Arabs and you let them shit all over your culture, faith, and people. The effect has been, in a word, devastating.

As long as men (meaning mankind) are in charge of religion and government the two should ALWAYS be separate. So until Jesus for us, or the Mahdi or Ahura Mazda for you, comes back and starts governing, it's best to let religion hold sway over people's hearts and minds, and government to hold sway over the fundamental human rights. Men are imperfect. And, if you can show me absolute proof that Allah or God or Jesus exist, I'll change my tone, but until then, I'll go on walking by faith, and the realization that this just might be all that there is; ergo, I don't want someone else's faith dictating how I'm going to live my life. I have my beliefs, you, I assume, have yours. That you think so little of yourself that you are happy to defend those who trample all over you, and who would kill you for the slightest infraction in the name of their god, saddens me.

Apparently the parents are claiming that the daughter was tricked into confession.

I am puzzled because so far, the chronology of events show that she was initially accused of buying alcohol, then she was accused of espionage based on the fact that she was acting as a reporter without a license.

When pressed for any evidence, none has been provided.

Also, the article states that this girl was Miss North Dakota and also a finalist for Miss America the next year. Given how radical Islam views beauty pageants, I can only wonder what sort of atrocities they will commit on this poor girl. In the name of God, of course.

Infidel! Do you not know that jailors' penises are tiny extensions of Allah's terrible swift sword?

Lol. I appreciate Mindful's view on many things and the international flavor that she brings to the board, but she is wrong on this one. Although, in light of historic precedent, this may be an act of self-preservation.

I do not live in Iran and have never visited, but it is fairly obvious that there are some rights there that are being severely limited, freedom of speech being one of them. I can respect that countries have laws that are influenced by cultural norms that are different than my own and therefore may have laws with which I do not agree or I find to be unjust but there are some rights that, if denied, do not allow a person to grow to their full potential. Free speech is one of these. Iran has a history of denying this fundamental right and implementing draconian punishment to those that attempt to exercise this right. It is wrong.

I would tell mindful to go fly a kite, but I think flying kites is illegal over there, punishable by death.

I imagine that reporting the evidence could bring the same sentence.
