Herman Cain drops his endorsement of "the people" and officially endorses Gingrich. How strange.
"I hereby officially and enthusiastically endorse Newt Gingrich for president of the United States!" Cain said. "One of the biggest reasons is the fact that I know that Speaker Gingrich is a patriot, Speaker Gingrich is not afraid of bold ideas and I also know that Speaker Gingrich is running for president and going through this sausage grinder. I know what this sausage grinder is all about."
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Gingrich: The most persecuted man in America?
This is quintessential Newt Gingrich — thin-skinned, self-absorbed, destructive and, yes, “petty.” He excels in converting his own missteps into tales of martyrdom. All of this has manifested itself in the campaign in big ways and small.
--------------------
As Mitt Romney figured out in the last debate, one Romney confidante explained to me, “The way to deal with a bully is smack him in the face.”
--------------------
The delicious irony this weekend is that in the midst of the Gingrich camp’s serial complaints and accusations, a character witness stepped forward, the imprisoned former congressman Duke Cunningham, for whose corruption Gingrich was “the prime enabler . . . among many, many enablers.” Meanwhile, the vast number of Gingrich’s unimprisoned former colleagues back other candidates and/or have set out to warn us about the perils of Newt.
---------------------
Judge him by the quality of the company he keeps (e.g., Palin, Herman Cain, Cunningham, Texas Gov. Rick Perry) and the critics he attracts. Gingrich has divided the party between the kids and grown-ups, the embarrassing and the presentable, the preposterous and the sober, the bomb-throwers and the policy wonks. (This has nothing to do with ideology; There are many sober, presentable grown-ups who are very, very conservative.) Judge him by his own conduct and the defenses he concocts. But mostly, consider the prospects of a president who regards critics as conspiratorial enemies and himself as a historic figure of epic proportions. (Oh wait. We have one of those already.)Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Newt may be pissed enough to keep on going.
And what of Gingrich's pledge to carry on his crusade all the way to Tampa? That's takeaway number three. Pledges to continue the fight unabated in the face of harsh and/or humiliating outcomes are staples of presidential campaigns. And they are also patently meaningless. (Please recall Jon Huntsman's feigned brio on the night of the New Hampshire primary — and his departure from the race a few days later.) But in Gingrich's case, he might be serious, so much has he come to despise Romney and the Republican Establishment that has brought down on him a twenty-ton shithammer in Florida, and so convinced is he of his own Churchillian greatness and world-historical destiny. The same antic, manic, lunatic bloody-mindedness that has made him such a rotten candidate in the Sunshine State may be enough to keep him the race a good long time.
Waging a protracted battle would likely be an act of futility for Gingrich, but it could turn out to be something much worse for Romney. That is why it's so important for the latter not just to win on Tuesday but to win big — very big. And that, in turn, is why the matter of margins will be the topic of tomorrow's column.

Don't worry. The reporters that Newt kicks off the bus Ron Paul will pick up in his '71 Ford station wagon given that he is a nice guy.Originally posted by thesaint258 View PostNewt's campaign shoots itself in the foot. I don't want Newt to be the GOP candidate, but I love how he treats the press. They deserve everything he does to them.Originally posted by thesaint258 View PostNewt's campaign shoots itself in the foot.
