Good @RameshPonnuru Bloomberg column: yes Gingrich has ideas, but what about the judgment needed to tell good from bad? bloom.bg/y2rNUS

        • Nominating Newt means Obama wins a second term, guaranteed. But Newt's surge in popularity, in spite of his widely known and humongous negatives, means Romney might be just as guaranteed to give Obama a second term. Romney just can't inspire his base. Newt is guaranteed to turn the moderates to Obama. Things are looking really good for Obama.

Ideas like these led to one of the more amusing Web sites of the campaign — “Supervillain or Newt?” — which asks you to guess whether a given idea came from Gingrich or a fictional supervillain. I got eight out of 10 right, but then I read a lot of comic books growing up.

I think what is more fascinating to watch is the growing divide within the Republican Party. I hope Newt wins the primary just to see the implosion.

                        True.

Whatever folks want to say about the two parties, the Dems seem to have the deeper bench when it comes to candidates people WANT to run for president. The problem with our last election was choosing between two extremely popular and capable candidates (Hillary and Obama), and Hillary continues to be a viable candidate for 2016, when she will enter the race as one of the most experienced world statesmen to ever seek that office. I'd love to see the mopping she'd do with a Bobby Jindal or Paul Ryan.

Paul Ryan might prove to be something in the long run. That depends on whether his leadership skills are as sharp as his ability to commit a conservative economic platform to paper in a way that doesn't get soundly rejected by moderates. I have to give the guy props, since he essentially tossed his body onto several 'third rail' issues and managed to walk away with nary a singed eyebrow. But that might also be indicative of the times, a tacit recognition of our serious spending problems.

Well, yeah. Of course you hope that. Was this supposed to be some kind of revelation?

The Obama supporters on here fit right into my general perception of an Obama supporter.

Looks like Newt is up to his old tricks again by mixing non-profits and policy making. You know what they say about cockroaches.....there's never just one.
