Interesting theory, and it makes sense. Many manic-depressives are erratic overachievers. He may have a less florid form of the disorder called bipolar 2 or something like that. Those folks are much higher-functioning when the illness is uncontrolled than full-blown bipolars are.

It's a shame too because I think as far as intelligence goes in the current Republican party, he is the LA Ute of candidates. He's just too negatively wired to be Commander in Chief IMO.

Don't forget that sexual promiscuity and spending sprees (Tiffany's?) are also features of manic episodes.

Wow, those guys played The Gingrich like a fiddle.

Facing Second Loss to Gingrich, Romney Went on Warpath
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I really think he was doing pretty well in his "wise man" role he seemed to have taken on. By running for president he's pretty much torched whatever repairs he had made to his reputation and historical legacy.

I sense it and cherish it.

For anyone who never saw or missed this spectacular moment in Newt history - John Lithgow reading the ridiculous press release of May on Colbert. Priceless.

That article paints a very sad picture of Newtie.

On Monday, he told his supporters: “We just got word of a brand new poll from about an hour ago that says we have a tie!” The crowd erupted in a chant of “Newt! Newt! Newt!”

When reporters asked for details, Gingrich’s spokesman distributed a “Dixie Strategies” poll — conducted early last week and published on Friday.
                    This was funny.

He said there shouldn’t be “any doubt” that he will remain in the race after Florida. “The establishment in both parties is terrified,” he boasted.

Well, at least the Republicans are.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I'm just waiting for his Howard Dean moment. Many times he has seemed on the verge.

He's become crazier and crazier. I fear he'll be pushed over the edge, where Calista already resides.

He shares the Canterbury Medal for religious freedom with Elie Wiesel and a few others.
