I dont think it hurts him much at all longterm. It will be the flavor of the day, perhaps, in the newscasts and on line but, to repeat an overused analogy, this is a marathon and not a sprint.

Well what if you sprain your ankle in mile 2? See? The analogy doesn't work very well.Originally posted by creekster View PostI dont think it hurts him much at all longterm. If potentially any 3 to 5 word phrase can be yanked out of thin air and plastered on the wall without anything to go with it, then you're not better off by saying anything at all.

It might suck and be dumb but a lot of voters suck and are dumb. Obama t-shirts that say "Suck it poor people - Romney 2012" are going to be a big hit w/ millennials. Combined with his wealth, his 13.9 percent tax rate and his general patrician image it IS going to be an effective way to brand him.
The question isn't whether the substance of his remarks are wrong - it's whether he inflicted a wound on himself that will haunt him. And he absolutely did.
There are so many ways to say what he said without saying "I'm not concerned about the very poor."Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī

Nothing when viewed in full context and considering the substance. But Newt and Pres. Obama won't let people do that.Originally posted by Jacob View PostHere's the video. I can't see anything wrong with what he said. Nothing.

The people who are going to get a tingle in their leg when wearing or seeing those tee shirts would have never voted for Mitt anyway. Look at all the dumb ass things Obama said and has said. He got elected POTUS.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostIt might suck and be dumb but a lot of voters suck and are dumb. Yea, the pundits will have something to talk about. How many people though do you think really look to the pundits for guidance?
A gaffe truly, but gaffe's don't determine elections.
