  • I'm surprised no one has brought up the $10,000 bet yet (at least not in this thread).

This could really hang over his head unless he addresses it correctly. It validates the "out of touch with regular Americans" thought.

I think he is addressing it the best he can though. Admit it is a lot of money and explain that he suggested that ridiculous amount because he knew he was right on the issue and the fact checkers have backed him up.

gentlemen should only offer a gentleman's wager or at most, lunch. I'm surprised Romney said that, more surprised that it actually means something in the pitiful primary season. How lame is the Republican party that they're thinking of nominating Newt Gingrich to run against Obama?

People are overblowing the amount. The bigger problem is that he resorted to that rheotorical device in the first place.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

you see, there's this other guy named Ezra Taft Benson and . . . well . . . it's kinda complicated

          • Mitt grilled at NH diner

I think this kind of stuff is only going to intensify as Iowa nears. I don't see how he survives it all.

Why? Mitt holds the same position as Obama on SSM.

do you mean Mitt getting grilled by un-screened questions? Yes, that will increase, Romney wants it too. I don't know that he answered that question badly considering his base and what his position on the subject has always been. He actively fought gay marriage in Massachusetts and his party expects him to be against it. This is an opinion that could hurt him in the general. For the primary he gave the right answer and it seems like he was diplomatic about it.

                • Krauthammer steps to Romney's side on Newt's amazing response today - which was basically to borrow one of the most asinine lines from OWS.

Dr. Krauthammer is one of the smartest, if not the smartest, political analyst/commentators in America, IMO. I would say one of the smartest to walk the planet but given the fact that he is paralyzed I can't.

That was cruel, but funny. I laughed.

                      • Amazing.

"American LP founder T.J. Walker told CBS News that he hopes the ad–which began airing on cable TV this week–will turn GOP voters against Romney, whom he called the "only sane, rational candidate" in the Republican field. "The mere fact that we can show him speaking French fluently, we believe, is going to irritate primary voters," Walker said."

Amazing that Mr. Walker opines as he does, or amazing that your think his analysis of the electorate turning on Mitt over a few French sentences is accurate?

There is much to be amazed at.

First - that the ad was made with the idea in mind that Mitt's fluency in the world's second diplomatic language cld be transformed into a liability.

Second - that far left Super PAC's are fully focused on Mitt even with him trailing Newt in Iowa, Florida and nationally - suggesting again that the Left has their sights trained on Mitt, and won't lay a glove on Newt unless he's nominated.

Third - that you managed to extrapolate from my post that I thought his analysis was accurate from the single word "amazing."
