I agree. Romney just blasted the field whereas Dean was coming off a loss (in which I think he led for a bit).Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostThat was coincidental."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I think Ox is right. Certainly, this isn't good for Romney. The ultimate impact this one will have on Romney's campaign is somewhere between zero and really, really bad, and it's anybody's guess how bad this will end up being, but it's fuel in the fire which Romney has to put out to win the election.Originally posted by byu71 View PostThe people who are going to get a tingle in their leg when wearing or seeing those tee shirts would have never voted for Mitt anyway. Look at all the dumb ass things Obama said and has said. He got elected POTUS.
Yea, the pundits will have something to talk about. How many people though do you think really look to the pundits for guidance?
A gaffe truly, but gaffe's don't determine elections.
We can add his lack of concern for the poor to an already growing list of things which, when considered in full context, really aren't as substantively bad as they sound, but make for really damaging sound bites which make him look like a disinterested, unconcerned elitist:
- $10,000 bet
- I like to fire people
- Pink slip
- I'm also unemployed
- Corporations are people, my friend
- Varmint hunter
- Who let the . . . ugh, I can't even finish it.
A lot of not-stupid people are going to watch the inevitable Obama commercial compiling these gaffes and will buy what he's selling.
Romney appears to have made great strides over the last few weeks in improving what I regard as his greatest weakness, which is his ability to communicate his message effectively and inspire confidence. This just goes to show that he's still got a ways to go. Luckily, November is a ways away.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

Very bizarre phenomenon. Many Romney supporters would agree with your statement above and yet they feel he is a qualified candidate to lead the country.Originally posted by All-American View PostRomney appears to have made great strides over the last few weeks in improving what I regard as his greatest weakness, which is his ability to communicate his message effectively and inspire confidence.
Every candidate has weaknesses. Why wouldn't the inability to communicate effectively and inspire confidence be non-negotiable when choosing a candidate?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Even if the outcome was predictable, a gaffe can seal the deal.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI agree. Romney just blasted the field whereas Dean was coming off a loss (in which I think he led for a bit).
Look at Perry's "oops," for example. Before he said it, most people probably suspected that he would not win the nomination-- in fact, he was down to about 10% on intrade's prediction market. Within seconds of "oops," though, that stock plunged:

Here, by contrast, is Romney's stock:

No noticeable effects-- yet (but there are fairly obvious reasons why Rick Perry's disastrous debate performance did him more harm than Romney's sloppy word choice on a morning interview).τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

I didn't say it was non-negotiable. I, for one, think he is a qualified candidate to lead the country. His weakness in communication, however, may leave many people thinking that he is not.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostVery bizarre phenomenon. So?Originally posted by YOhio View PostI swear you're more obsessed with Obama than his most loyal supporter. I don't think I've met anyone who likes the guy as much as you hate him.
I believe he is evil. I believe he is the worst President this country has ever elected. I believe that he is hellbent on destroying this country and molding it into the Marxist society that he wants it to be.
If folks here want me to stop posting my opinions in this category, I'll do it. I know you didn't. I'm asking why it wouldn't be.Originally posted by All-American View PostI didn't say it was non-negotiable. I, for one, think he is a qualified candidate to lead the country. His weakness in communication, however, may leave many people thinking that he is not.
Per your own words, you think a guy whose greatest weakness is communication and inspiring leadership will make a good President.
Like I said, bizarre phenomenon.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Even EPU will agree here. Obama forces his own agenda on the entire country and brainwashes people into believing his optimistic lies. Sounds like a very effective communicator and someone that inspires a great deal of confidence amongst his supporters.Originally posted by YOhio View PostOf all the people running for president, including Oh!Bama, which one do you think communicates effectively and inspires confidence?
Conversely, Mitt's supporters (like you and Anal Miracle) bemoan his ability to stay on message, convey his message, and inspire confidence.
PS I'm not falling for the "Oh!bama" stuff. I spent most of 2008 furious about it but I'm not falling for it this time.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
