That said, the guy with the phone cam is clearly recording. If he believed the cop flipped him off, he wouldn't have released a still, he would have released the video. The mere fact that he chose to use a still instead of the video is pretty strong circumstantial evidence that the photo is probably photoshopped.

Do former police officers count?
A former cop and his son, a former investigator for the DA, think they've found the suspect for recent burglaries. They've obviously stewed about this for awhile. The video seems like they've recruited someone to follow Arbery while he's running (hence the dash cam), and they set up a road block to, um, apprehend Arbery.

The killers are interviewed by the police and the DA, in February. Why are we hearing about this now? Because the video has been discovered. Turns out the DA took offered up a veeeery convenient interpretation of the conflict as reason not to charge the father and son. Another DA is now recommending a grand jury.
There's interesting angles with Georgia's 'citizen arrest' laws, which either the original DA completely misunderstood or just ignored. I know which side I'm betting on. I'll add some baseline racism just for good measure.
