    The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting.

        I sure hope this puts the issue to bed and the political conversation can progress to more important things.

                I love how Hawaii couldn't even bother to line up the certificate for their printer. A few years ago I had to get a certified copy of my BC from Hawaii for a passport and it was a PITA. Their records department was a joke. Nothing is online. Odd office hours. I was on hold forever and getting transferred all over the place. The one good thing is that I needed it expedited and it was.

The most compelling evidence is already out there -- the publishing of Barack Obama's name and birth date within a few daysof when he was born in a Honolulu newspaper. Electronic copies of birth certificates can be photoshopped but you can't get the entire staff at a newspaper to conspire with you.

                    Exactly. If the previous information (which was conclusive beyond any reasonable doubt) wasn't enough, why would this be? But if this gets Trump to drop it, then its a win for everybody. Trump is the only one with a microphone.

                          Why the heck did he wait so long and then do it now. The number of people doubting his American birth must have been going up in the polls and it wasn't just the wacko's anymore.

                          By the way the question as to why was just rhetorical. I don't really give a shit why, because I wouldn't believe the reason anyway. I don't think Obama is a liar, just a politican type liar. It's out there, good, let's move on.

                            He released his birth certificate years ago. The other form he released today was not his to release. It is an internal document owned by Hawaii that they don't release. Obama got them to release it, and he could have done so earlier. But he had already released the birth certificate.

                              While we mock the 8,000 foreign journalists covering the Royal wedding--while I don't know a single person that cares about it, we continue to cover our own royalty at the same rate.
