Even with the involvement of Bachmann in the race, Romney needs to avoid Iowa altogether. I could perhaps understand someone wanting to roll around in the muck 30 years ago with Michelle Bachmann (rowrrr!), but not in 2012. You don't want to be grouped with Bachmann at all or engage in any kind of crazy-ass dialog with her.

Of course, Iowa also pisses me off because I think the timing of the Iowa caucuses plays a huge role in the whole ethanol boondoggle this country is engaging in. Ethanol needs to either be abandoned or bought from Brazil.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

That seems to be the case for every party primary we've seen in the past half-century.

                New CNN poll:
                Giuliani 16%
                Romney 15%
                Palin 13%
                Paul 12%
                Cain 10%
                Gingrich 8%
                Bachmann 7%
                Pawlenty 5%
                Santorum 2%
                Huntsman 1%

                Sounds like Rudy is running.
Cain showing really well. How did he get up to 10% so fast?
And now Rick Perry's really considering it; http://www.statesman.com/blogs/conte...nsider_wh.html
Romney still supports ethanol subsidies, while Pawlenty said he didn't.

I read a pundit who claimed that the Romney camp wants Palin in the race. Or Bachman. That the GOP would be so scared of her that they'd rally around Romney. I think I can buy that a little bit. They'd rightfully be scared because of how well she polls. And Romney is the logical guy to rally around because he's the only other player (besides Rudy) with a high profile.

Huntsman has been in this race about as long a Cain and he's getting 1%. But his strategy is merely to live in NH and pull of a 1st or 2nd place finish there. National polls and Iowa caucuses don't matter to him.

Romney lying to Iowans about thinking ethanol is a good idea.

The Republican primary is shaping up to be a hot mess.

Let's hope Christie gets involved and doesn't get to muddy while playing with the other pigs.

Dems must be pretty happy with the state of the Republican Party right now. Sure, Obama is unpopular, but the Rs can't seem to find anyone.

But....HEY! Sarah Palin is starting her bus tour tomorrow! She's just what the R party and the country need!!!

Well...pandering is repulsive, but it ain't lying. I wish he had taken a more courageous position. Even Pawlenty, who's trying to be Mr. Courageous, only thinks the subsidies should be phased out gradually:

Pawlenty hasn't taken a real position on any other controversial issue.

lol, Romney just can't help himself. First, he needs to stay the hell out of Iowa. Let Bachman Turner Overdrive and Palin fight it out for the hillbilly vote in that state. New Hampshire doesn't care about Iowa and NH is much more important. Second, he's pandering again. Ethanol coming from corn is a terrible idea and I question the judgment of any politician that truly thinks it's a good thing and I usually assume it's just pandering. It sucks that Iowa is both the first caucus and a swing state, it's contributed towards creating the ridiculous ethanol policy.
