Time to crunch some numbers (from CNN. I don't know why some delegates remain unassigned)
Alaska
24 delegates
Romney 8
Santorum 7
Paul 6
Gingrich 3
Georgia
76 delegates
Gingrich 42
Romney 10
Unassigned 24
Idaho
32 delegates
Romney 32
Massachussetts
38 delegates (plus three more unpledged delegates)
Romney 38
North Dakota
28 delegates
Santorum 11
Paul 8
Romney 7
Gingrich 2
Ohio
66 delegates (plus three more unpledged)
Romney 26
Santorum 19
Unassigned 21
Oklahoma
40 delegates (plus three more unpledged)
Santorum 14
Romney 13
Gingrich 13
Tennessee
55 delegates (plus three more unpledged)
Santorum 25
Romney 12
Gingrich 7
Paul 0
Unassigned 11
Vermont
17 delegates
Romney 8
Paul 3
Santorum 3
Vermont 3
Virginia
46 delegates (plus three more unpledged)
Romney 43
Paul 3
Total delegates up for grabs: 422
Total for Romney: 197
Total for Santorum: 78
Total for Gingrich: 67
Total for Paul: 21
Total remaining undecided: 59
The biggest night for Romney, obviously, but the other candidates did keep him from netting more than half of the available delegates. It seems clear enough that none of the other candidates can do anything in this race except possibly keep Romney from getting to 1144.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

I didn't say less smart, I said less educated. There is a difference and the exit polling clearly shows that people with college degrees or higher swing big time in Romney's favor. Same with those making $100K or more. It's also a fact that those who feel religion is important swing in Santorum's favor. Taking the results of exit polling and the Ohio map above I'm just putting 2 and 2 together.
Cap and trade is a red herring. It won't happen on a national scale, at least not in my lifetime and I wasn't aware that Romney wanted it on a national scale. The lobbying against it is too strong and it would be a job killer. It's almost like saying the GOP wants to ban birth control."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

The NY Times: "No Knockout Punch". How is Romney doing compared to McCain last time? When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

which suggested you equated education and intelligence. I haven't seen the crosstabs, but unless Romney also won the educated rural voters (and yes, there are a few people in the country who went to college) there is obviously something besides intelligence or education that was driving the vote. Yet you didn't bother to reference the crosstabs, because you automatically assumed that everyone knows country people just aren't educated (intelligent) enough to make the right (read: your) choice. In one post you managed to perfectly demonstrate why the default position for all rural people is to think city folks are jackasses.Romney wins the intelligent vote everytimesigpic

Romney kicked ass in Idaho. In fact looking at the map it was the bigger population centers, save for the booming metropolis of Idaho Falls and perhaps Malad with its wickedly pro-Romney suburb of Samaria, that did not go for Mitt.Originally posted by cowboy View PostAfter pointing to the demographics, you said this,

Here we have Idaho, with its highly educated rednecks inventing TV and leading her way to fame!
BOOM BITCHES!
Can we get Why-OMEN to trade us the county that Cokeville resides in, Lincoln?, for Blaine County? We will even take Kemmererererererer as part of the deal.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

No way are you getting the football powerhouse of Cokeville without taking Rock Springs and Rawlins with it. Also, you people need to stop and face the fact that the Tetons and Yellowstone are in Wyoming; just because you can see them, doesn't mean they're yours. Idaho claiming the Tetons is like Sarah Palin claiming Russia.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostRomney kicked ass in Idaho. I don't wish to be rude, but having spent extensive - and I mean extensive - time in both, you are the 1%. FYI. I think it is nigh on undeniable that the rural voter is much, much, MUCH more likely to be an uneducated simpleton than not. Especially in the specific areas we're talking about (and doubly so as we get further south). I guarn-damn-tee you that if you sit down with a bunch of the demographic in question you'll find they are social issue voters who have no clue what the hell cap and trade even is.Originally posted by cowboy View PostAfter pointing to the demographics, you said this,

This is not to say that there aren't both highly intelligent and well educated people living in rural areas (you prove this point). And if you can't fabricate a parallel point about city dwellers then I can do it for you.

We Idahoans love to look at the Tetons, comment about it and wish ever so fervently that somehow the mountains we get to handle could be such voluptuous sky-scraper like in appearance. Then we spend a weekend along the wasatch front with all of her manmade mountain beauties, drop a few grand on some divinely inspired gentile doc, wait the mandatory 6 weeks for healing and then we go all Celestial Paddycake...if you know what I mean.Originally posted by cowboy View PostNo way are you getting the football powerhouse of Cokeville without taking Rock Springs and Rawlins with it. Look you WhyOmen's know how to deal with the pretentious ski communities for the rich and famous. Send us Cokeville for the entire Wood River Valley, we Idahoans appreciate stories of Great Grandmas pushing kindergartners through gym windows.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Romney will be the most appealing GOP candidate to suburban voters since Bush 41 in 1988. He'll be the same thing with women voters too. The social conservative vote simply isn't enough this year and the bomb throwing pundits on the right don't seem to get this. The only question is whether enough of the hillbillies stay home in a place like Ohio and that causes Romney to lose the state.Originally posted by nikuman View PostI don't wish to be rude, but having spent extensive - and I mean extensive - time in both, you are the 1%. It's really quite simple and comes down to two things-- gas prices and unemployment. I will guarant-ass-tee everyone that both issues will decide this election if Romney is the candidate. If Santorum were the candidate, they wouldn't be as determinative, there's almost no plausible way Santorum wins.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

The reason that McCain had things wrapped up by Super Tuesday was that he cleaned up in California. Otherwise Romney is on a similar path to McCain.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThe NY Times: "No Knockout Punch". How is Romney doing compared to McCain last time?
I think if California had voted last night, this thing would be over now.

Right, my post was meant to apply to every single person individually that affiliates with the GOP and lives in rural America and not to refer to certain trends that occur within that group. I was trying to say that no one in rural America, not one single person, has more than a college education and those without a college education are so stupid they can hardly tie their shoes.Originally posted by cowboy View PostAfter pointing to the demographics, you said this,

Btw, here's the Ohio exit polls: http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/pr...hio/exit-polls
People with college degrees go 43-35 for Romney
People making over $100K go 46-32 for Romney
People think it a great deal that the candidate share their religion go 53-20 for Santorum"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. One thing I think is important to note, is how well Romney did in the Auto Industry area of Ohio.. Romney got Cuyahoga County and it wasn't even close.. After all the negative pub about "Letting Detroit" or "The Auto Industry" die and go bankrupt. It didn't even have an impact in those strong areas..
It seems many people are more focused on Job creation, economy, etc.. Things Romney is sounding his trumpet on...
