U.S. Rep. Blake Moore, of Utah’s 1st District, told the Deseret News he hopes Ballard’s proposal will help him build momentum for similar changes at the federal level, which he tried to include in last year’s “big, beautiful bill.”
Of course some want to eliminate income tax in Utah altogether. That would eliminate any marriage penalty, right?

    • Federally, married couples are already advantages or at least equalized in most credits and deductions.

I think it makes sense for Utah make breaks for married couples double or that for singles. Seems only fair.

I doubt thought that their argument that a couple of hundred dollars in state tax breaks is a serious causal detriment to marriage decisions

      • There will likely always be a marriage penalty in some cases. The tax code is too voluminous to ensure there is never a penalty for filing jointly versus the two individuals filing as single.

Per rage and the report above, I would hope people would feel at least some rage over the way that father allegedly abused his children. mrs. myboynoah's best friend growing up lived in a similar environment and still suffers from the trauma.
