He made a stupid choice. Also, he did say that there had to be parental consent.

As confirmed by what? A PM from the kid saying "Yeah my parents are cool with it!"?

I don't know. He seems like an idiot that made a stupid choice. I'm not going to get into the LibsOfTikTok directed campaign to destroy his life over this choice, nor if we are going to be criticizing him should be ignore that he said it had to be with parental consent.

If the kids want the books and they have parental consent, maybe the parents could just buy the books for their kids. In Idaho they have done about the same thing but I get the feeling the people banning the books don't really care, they are going to use it against those who oppose it when it comes election time. Library boards and school boards are already in place for this kind of stuff,

That's an interesting take. Pretty sure he was fired very quickly by the Trib so I am not sure LibsOfTikTok had anything to do with it. I also seriously doubt the SLTrib cares about that account one way or the other.

            • Moustos is an ass. Bryan Schott isn't evil. He has done some good reporting in the past.

Eric Moutsous is a MAGA Trumper Humper right-winger "patriot" type. I don't like him either.

In this particular case, I support taking those books out of the schools (and, fine, Green Monstah, maybe the law is a little too aggressive about mandating they be "destroyed"). I understand that "kids are gonna find and read them anyway" but I would rather not make it quite so easy for kids to access them.

He's not a Marxist. He is kind of a pompous ass. He's broken his fair share of stories. His grandstanding on this is weird and out of line for a journalist but it doesn't make him Fidel Castro.

It's rarely a good thing to be aligned with Libsotiktok or share their outrage.

Right now, the newspapers are incredibly sensitive to getting clicks and track that shit religiously. I could see the Trib being responsive to something like that.

This is a lazy response. Who gives a shit if that account featured it? Analyze the case on its merits.

I am guessing most organizations are sensitive to one of their employees offering to provide sexually explicit data to minors. "But only if your parents OK it!"

I have also heard this was kind of a "last straw" case for this guy. Good opportunity to cut payroll maybe.

My comment was directed at BFM for calling me GM.

Yeah, no duh he is unemployed. I'm just sharing my opinion.

It's best not to follow libsoftiktoks crusades, and even better not follow that account as they are prone to inaccuracies and general hatefulness. They aren't better than catturd.

You realize your second point doesn't contradict mine? News organizations being hyper aware of what gets clicks etc, even more so every day, doesn't mean that they don't take umbrage with that specific concern. Although I'd speculate that without that outrage they may not care.

The last straw thing makes a ton of sense.

YOU are the one that keep trying to bring libsoftiktok into the discussion. I couldn't care less that they (among countless others) have commented on this.

I've no idea why it's a controversial point or something that is annoying. You realize there's stuff I think we agree on too?
