GE is a great example of why we need the fair tax

I like the fairtax idea (although I agree with Robin that it seems to have little to do with corporate taxation), but I think that most people would be pretty surprised at how little taxes they pay right now. It really is a regressive tax, even with the poverty line pre-bate. I like the idea of taxing consumption, however.

I also see huge enforcement issues in the future as more and more business is conducted online. I'm sure there are mechanisms to address this, but I imagine they would be pretty disadvantageous to US based online retailers.

the fair tax would be based where the purchaser is so US based companies would have a leg up on foreign based companies as they wouldn't have all the other taxes built in to their pricing. The book that was sold on line $10 would end up costing $12.30. The US company that produced the book here would have an advantage because their cost would not include any taxes (payroll, vat or income tax).

What you would most likely see is tons of foreign companies incorporating and producing in the USA.
