What, precisely, is so offensive about putting on a post-SOTU address to comment on the President's remarks? Whether you agree or disagree with the content of her message, it sounds perfectly American to me.

I believe the concern is that it (her speach) may conflict with the GOP message that Rep. Paul Ryan will deliver. This could lead to divisions among Republicans.Originally posted by RedSox View PostWhat, precisely, is so offensive about putting on a post-SOTU address to comment on the President's remarks? Knowing her you can bet she'll do something batshit.

Yup, call a teabagger by the name they gave themselves (until some 17 year old pointed out to them that - uh, maybe you don't want to call yourselves that) and watch the profanity fly. Because it's "intolerant" ya'know (winky winky)

She's not dumb, just (a) very ideological and (b) self-promoting at the expense of the larger movement to which she purports to belong. This is good for her, but not for the causes she claims to support.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

A temperate voice of reason -- a rare find on this board when the names Bachman, Beck & Palin are mentioned.

i thought by putting the derogatory term in quotation marks, finderson's teabaggers would have an opportunity to recognize the error of their ways.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostWhat the hell are you talking about? And fuck off yourself for the derogatory term.

Sorry LAU, but I disagree. She's pretty dumb. You've got to be both tactically unaware and have a deficient understanding of the codes and implications of certain phrasings in American political discourse to get caught saying that people should be investigated for "un-American" behavior and then not have any idea what you really meant by it.

I think the fairly right people at Hot Air (one of the media platforms most sympathetic toward and most aligned with the Tea Party) summed it up in the link from my original post.
There's nothing "American" abt what she's doing - she's just promoting herself. There is no one in America who has dealt more substantively with the issues raised by the Tea Party than Paul Ryan has - and he's giving the Republican response, what do we need her response for other than for her self-aggrandizement?
Beyond that - she was elected as a Republican, with the backing of the Republican Party - if she wants to branch off and represent some other organization then she should disassociate herself from the Republican Party and let her constituents decide if they still want to elect her as a member of something else.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī

I've met her and have spent a fair amount of time talking with her about health care reform and related issues. She is quite intelligent. What you are questioning is her political judgment, which I, like you, think she lacks. Lots of book-smart people are political dummies.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostSorry LAU, but I disagree. The guy whose post you quote has never been especially fond of the tea party types like Beck, Palin, Bachman, etc. He doesn't give them the benefit of the doubt. So that's not really a fair point. I'm not of fan of that group of people either. Still, I think you are being a little overzealous with your statements.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostI think the fairly right people at Hot Air (one of the media platforms most sympathetic toward and most aligned with the Tea Party) summed it up in the link from my original post.

Think about that the next time you call us the "Democrat" party.
You know what that little white dot in the middle of chickenshit is? Well thats chickenshit too.
Not to get in the middle of this, but please provide a direct quote from a official member of the tea Party who is quote as saying "We are teabaggers"..
I have a feeling you will not find shit, and your little argument of, "You called yourself that in the beginning" will go down the toilet much like the rest of your pathetic response..
FYI: I am pretty sure the teabagger following began when that "Gay/butch" (Yes I am being insensitive on purpose) Janeane Garofalo was quoted as saying it and it took off from there..
