It mentions this in the third paragraphOriginally posted by TheBYUGuy View PostThey say nothing of sentencing. Does that come later?
He will get life in prison. I would have to think that he will spend the rest of his life confined to some sort of ad-seg cell. Justice is a tough thing in this case because he should probably also be chained up and brutally attacked daily for about a year or so.Mitchell was convicted of interstate kidnapping and unlawful transportation of a minor to engage in sexual activity for allegedly holding Smart captive for nine months, including near-daily rapes and a trip to California and back. He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced on May 25, which allows time for a presentencing report to be completed.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

May 25th? That is nuts.
I always laugh at movies and television where the trials occur immediately. Ha. Like the lawyers would ever let that happen."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

You altered the actual quotation by substituting a period for a comma without any notation. Sorry but you can't honestly expect anyone to take your quotes seriously now.Originally posted by falafel View PostWhich is also the paragraph that I quoted in this thread.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

That's funny. I thought, "I don't remember altering anything. And why would I take that part out?" Then I realized that I didn't. The trib must have updated the article, which makes sense since they were in a hurry to get it posted quickly after the verdict.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostYou altered the actual quotation by substituting a period for a comma without any notation. Of course, I still don't expect anyone to take my quotes seriously.

If that happens I'd give him a year to live. But according to my former federal prosecutor partners, the federal prisons do a better job of protecting prisoners like him. He'll definitely be segregated from the general prison population. Still, they think he'll be at risk and will be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Such a pity.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostHopefully, he'll end up in general population.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

That he will be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Oh, I agree, I think that it is a pity that he is not forced into genreal population.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostThat he will be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. That too. I was taking some consolation from knowing that no matter what is done to protect him, it may not be enough. Someone suggested that his being raped daily for a full year might be an appropriate outcome, but I won't belabor that idea.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostOh, I agree, I think that it is a pity that he is not forced into genreal population.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

I actually think the worst thing he could endure is isolation. I have heard it said that is the very worst kind of psychological torture.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostThat too.
