      Québécois are weird. Just really weird people. I know a lot of them and they are all weird.

                      What if we left a 150-mile strip of land next to the border as Canada and annexed everything else? Hmm....

                        I like the creativity; this could have legs. We may need to also annex strategic corridors linking the new state to the rest of the mainland US for all the pipelines we will need to build.

                          Yes, of course. I am sure there are a number of low population areas where we could build corridors.

                            I’m pretty sure Alberta would join the USA if it were up their vote. That’s really all you need for oil and pipelines. Plus, they have a big rodeo/stampede thing that would jive with the West/Texas.

                              You underestimate the 'not American' psyche of even the most conservative Canadians. My in laws hate Trudeau and even have some Trumpy viewpoints, but they are Canadian through and through. And most of that is defined by whatever the USA is not.

                              Yes Alberta is probably the most important 'conservative' province up there, which translates to a purple state in the US. But just a few short years ago they voted for the hard left NDP, a previously unthinkable occurrence. It would be a very hard sell for even Alberta to join the US.
