  • When the entire security establishment is telling bibi to do one thing and he does the opposite , it is on bibi

    • Another point. These people are on the front line and face the threat everyday. Everyone of them has served or is serving in the IDF, so they are not ignorant peaceniks. They are not happy with their leadership and want change. I give them a lot of leeway. Bibi should have cut the deal before it came to this.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

      • I haven't followed the deal-making that closely. Was there a deal on the table that Bibi could/should have cut earlier that wouldn't have sent the message that terrorism pays off and hostage taking pays off?

well the idf chief, the defense minister (from his own party), the shin bet chief, the mossad chief all said to give up the demand to stay on the egyptian border. he responded by threatening to fire them.

          thats the main sticking point.

Id say any deal would match your bad message but theres not much else they can do to dismantle hamas at this point. is it better to keep killing low level guys and threaten them shooting hostages when they get close or to just end it. Bibi thinks more about his poisition as PM than the hostages

                    • Looking at the videos/photos of exploded pagers, it seems unlikely that these were battery explosions. I've seen lithium batteries catch fire and while they can explode they are not predictable and don't generate the amount of percussive force that videos show. The videos seem to show detonations and they were all triggered within a very short time window. Battery fires would be way less predictable. The twitterverse is speculating that the pagers had C4 or some other type of explosive, and in my layman's opinion I agree with that.

Good call. That looks like an explosive to me.

Had the same thought. I had a client who was injured when his Samsung phone exploded. He described it as much more of a sudden burning sensation, and his injures looked much more like a battery acid spill than anything explosive.

I read that all the pagers came from the same shipment and were deployed fairly recently. Likely sabotaged en mass.

2700 wounded is a lot of collateral damage, unless all of them are Hezbollah agents.
