Revealed: 6ft trans school shooter wanted to be ‘petite’

Social media posts uncovered by The Telegraph reveal mental health issues of teenager who killed eight

The transgender teenager responsible for Canada’s worst school shooting in nearly 40 years struggled with his physical appearance and was fixated with guns and drugs.

Jesse Van Rootselaar, an 18-year-old from the remote town of Tumbler Ridge who was born a male, wrote online about his 6ft frame and his desire to be a “petite” woman.

He shot dead his mother, Jennifer Strang, and his 11-year-old stepbrother on Tuesday afternoon before walking to his former school 10 minutes away and opening fire on pupils and staff, killing eight before taking his own life.

Police initially described the shooter as a “gunperson” and a “female in a dress”. They later revealed that Van Rootselaar had begun transitioning at the age of 12 and publicly identified as female.

Police have not revealed a motive, but posts retrieved by The Telegraph from the shooter’s deleted social media accounts reveal a troubled teenager with mental health issues and difficulties transitioning to become a woman.
Van Rootselaar, armed with a modified handgun and a rifle or shotgun, shot dead three 12-year-old girls and two boys, aged 12 and 13, and a 39-year-old female teacher inside the school at approximately 1.20pm.

He then took his own life minutes before officers arrived at the scene.
Two more people, including Maya Gebala, a 12-year-old girl who sustained two bullet wounds to her neck and head after locking the library door to save her classmates, are being treated for life-threatening injuries

    • Not sure where to put this but I only recently learned about the "Zizians". They are widely described as a cult and largely made up of trans or non-binary people with "a distinctive ideology including anarchism, veganism, and the notion that hemispheres of the brain can have distinct genders and conflicting interests"

      Zizians - Wikipedia

Group members have been charged with the murder of a border patrol agent in Vermont, a landlord in California, and the murders of the parents of one of them. Reading about them has a weird Manson family feel to it.

      • Nothing good comes from being a vegan. Sorry, just being honest.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

          • From the New York Times opinion page. Great read about the “science” behind youth gender care.

A 2018 policy statement by the American Academy of Pediatrics provides a useful example of how these documents can go wrong. At one point, it argues that children who say they are trans “know their gender as clearly and as consistently as their developmentally equivalent peers,” an extreme exaggeration of what we know about this population. (A single study is cited.) The document also criticizes the “outdated approach in which a child’s gender-diverse assertions are held as ‘possibly true’ until an arbitrary age” — the A.A.P. was instructing clinicians to take 4- and 5-year-olds’ claims about their gender identities as certainly true. It’s understandable why the Cass reviewers scored this policy statement so abysmally, giving it 12 out of 100 possible points on “rigor of development” and six out of 100 on “applicability.”

Policy statements like this one can reflect the complex and opaque internal politics of an organization, rather than dispassionate scientific analysis. The journalist Aaron Sibarium’s reporting strongly suggests that a small group of A.A.P. members, many of whom were themselves youth gender medicine providers, played a disproportionate role in developing these guidelines.

Dr. Julia Mason, a 30-year member of the organization, wrote in The Wall Street Journal, with the Manhattan Institute’s Leor Sapir, that the A.A.P. deferred to activist-clinicians and stonewalled the critics’ demands for a more rigorous approach. Dr. Sarah Palmer, an Indiana-based pediatrician, told me she recently left the A.A.P. after nearly 30 years because of this issue. “I’ve tried to engage and be a member and pay that huge fee every year,” she said. “They just stopped answering any questions.” This is unfortunate given that, as critics have noted, in many cases the A.A.P. document’s footnotes don’t even support the claims being made in the text.

                • Wow. International Olympic Committee announces a complete ban on transgender athletes in female categories at the olympics. Genetic testing required.

                  https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/26/w...095be609c290aa

The International Olympic Committee banned transgender athletes from competing in the women’s category at the Olympics, after telling its members to conduct mandatory genetic testing for women’s competitions.

The decision, the most consequential since Kirsty Coventry was elected last year as the first woman to serve as president of the I.O.C., followed a board meeting and months of speculation over the organization’s policy on one of the most contentious issues facing global sports. The rules will be applicable from the next Olympics, in Los Angeles in 2028.

As Ms. Coventry, a decorated Olympic swimmer from Zimbabwe, campaigned to lead the organization, she frequently said how important it was to protect the women’s category amid broader — and often bitter — debates about the participation of transgender athletes in sporting competitions.

Under the new policy eligibility will be determined by a one-time gene test, according to the I.O.C. The test, which is already being used in track and field, requires screening via saliva, a cheek swab or a blood sample.

                    • Interesting article on how the UU is bad. They engage in a systemic review commissioned on youth transgender treatment by the legislature. It appears like they basically did a selective literature trawl for evidence supporting their predetermined conclusion, ignored opposing findings, and failed to disclose their COI.

I just don’t get these people’s drive to support this.
