There are trade offs in choosing any candidate. Some of us have done the math and think it's a wash. Your doomsday worries are no different than the doomsday worries of the MAGA rubes. Both beleive in their own righteousness and the malevolence of their opponents. I don't buy either viewpoint. Both will be bad and will need to have their awful policies pushed back against.
This is the stuff trump is saying out of his own mouth

is therisany prececedent for a president's ex chief of staff and chair of joint chiefs to call them a fascist and wanna be dictator ?

Doomsday would be worse than what he said. But strange you think any of it is that outlandish given that it's stuff Trump has said repeatedly that he would do. Mass deportation force, Really high tariffs, loyalty tests -- he's been recorded talking about all of that. It's the stuff he talks about at his rallies.

      • Those of you who think it is a wash between Trump and Harris have lost your marbles. I still love you though.

In decorum? Certainly not a wash. A wash in real world outcomes? Probably. Harris is coy about what she wants to do and Trump can't possibly accomplish (or even believe) a lot of his nonsense. I could certainly be wrong. But I'm not voting for either anyway. I left the presidency blank on my ballot.

I guess you don't see the damage to our institutions as decorum. He didn't just encourage seditious behavior, he helped plan it and continues to lionize it. If gets his way he will pardon people who did things like smash in the brains of heroic cops, smeared feces on the walls of congressional offices, and steal computers from opposition leaders' offices with the intent to give it our enemy. That's more than decorum

Oh, I see plenty of damage to our institutions. It's a bipartisan affair.

USUC is so politically dialed he could tell you the difference between a Mises and Rothbard but somehow he hasn’t read that Trump praised Hitlers Generals and stated that Hitler wasn’t all bad, or that Trump is proposing 300% tariffs, or that his economic policies will cost double that of Harris, or that a Mexican isn’t worth the reported funeral costs, or that his VP, multiple SOS, and other high level cabinet members aren’t supporting him because they claim he’s a fascist.

If he doesn’t read about Trump he can feel good about himself that he ‘didn’t’ vote for either candidate because somehow the dude praising Hitler is a wash with the woman who is standing with Ukraine. GTFO.

                  • I am sure this is all above board and doesn't compromise any US interests:

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and a linchpin of U.S. space efforts, has been in regular contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since late 2022.

The discussions, confirmed by several current and former U.S., European and Russian officials, touch on personal topics, business and geopolitical tensions.

At one point, Putin asked the billionaire to avoid activating his Starlink satellite internet service over Taiwan as a favor to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, said two people briefed on the request...

Musk has forged deep business ties with U.S. military and intelligence agencies, giving him unique visibility into some of America’s most sensitive space programs. SpaceX, which operates the Starlink service, won a $1.8 billion classified contract in 2021 and is the primary rocket launcher for the Pentagon and NASA. Musk has a security clearance that allows him access to certain classified information.

My man, both sides or more precisely any side is capable of corruption but right now what is going with MAGA is unprecedented and there is not some parallel version that mirrors it from progressives. I'm not accusing you of being a Trump person, but you minimize his antics, and try to allege hyperbole when what is being said is accurate.

We live in a country where the possibility of the Republican Party being compromised by authoritarians at a faster clip than the democrats is a possibility, and increasingly an actuality. Political Parties are movements and movements are about people. They shift

Fusnik isn't wrong and a lot of the allegations about Trump's sociopathic politics aren't new and weren't even disputed until he morphed into a dime store messianic political figure.

Trump is not a reader, but he was given a book of Hitler's speeches and kept them by his bedside. Trump, ever the Christian, has said he's never prayed to God for forgiveness.

He has never feigned an apology or taken responsibility for anything. Everytime he speaks he is wildly blaming someone for something, screaming Witchhunt, Russiagate, deep state and TDS and all the while doing nothing to assuage or mitigate those concerns.

He has dog whistled up a storm until he basically just shouts his racist crap out loud. Fearmongering that black people from Haiti are eating your pets, people who have real reasons to flee their county, are a menace threatening and robbing from Americans is inherently racist. It's text-book know-nothing nativism.

It's not just leftists sounding the alarm about Trump's fascism, it's decorated military generals and senior defense and intel advisors. Of course the minute anyone criticizes him they then become part of the deep state and his follows don't bother to consider those concerns.

                        • Everyone is bored of the fascism stuff. It didn't work in 2016 and it won't work now. There is a thousand genuine reasons to not vote for Trump. You don't need a hyperbolic moniker that you have already abused and rendered meaningless. It's hurting the Harris cause. Also, it doesn't help your cause when it's been used against every Republican candidate since Dewey. Boy who cried wolf. Trump is a populist. He's a buffoon. And he's a terrible political candidate. He's also a known entity to everyone. Calling him a fascist is just a tell they have nothing else to offer. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to anoint an unproven and untested candidate. I despise the GOP base and I despise the Democratic party elite. Both complicit in this travesty of choices. A race to the bottom.

Tell that to Kelly and Milley.

Trump isnt a normal bad politician.

I doubt you shrugged so stubbornly when Obama was called a socialist or communist.

No, not every day candidate has been genuinely fascist like Trump. You seem unwilling to even consider the possibility regardless of whatever evidence could be delivered.

Yeah, Harris is a complete idiot… even all the commentators on CNN say this:

The Dems blew it by installing Harris as their candidate (using “democracy”). Y’all need to start practicing saying “Heil Trump!” and snapping your heels together.

                                Love you too, man.
