Curious about the bolded part as I get the impression that inflation is, in fact, a huge problem for Biden and if he loses will probably be the biggest factor, or at least top 2 or 3. Having said that, I obviously don't follow politics as closely as many of you. Is there polling or other data that indicates inflation isn't severely hurting him?Originally posted by USUC View PostLatest inflation data isn't great. In normal times (non Trump times) this would be a huge problem for Biden. But apparently elections are about vibes now. I truly do wonder how much the economy plays into this. Biden wants to ignore it completely and Trump just says "I'll fix it" but offers no specifics (or posits potentially inflationary measures such as higher tarrifs will fix it). But I have no idea what vibes will actually decide the presidency.

According to polling in 6 swing states, only 6% list inflation/cost of living as the single most important issue in deciding who to vote for in November. The economy overall is 22%. There were only 3 issues listed that were even double digits (abortion and immigration were the other two). There doesn't seem to be a driving issue for most voters. So it appears to come down to vibes.Originally posted by Clark Addison View Post

What a terrible video. They had to splice about five or six takes. Was he unable to just read through the whole thing at once?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

It's pretty bad when even CNN says that Grandpa Joe is full of sh*t...
https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/14/polit...ent/index.htmlFact check: Biden again falsely claims inflation was 9% when he became president
For the second time in less than a week, President Joe Biden falsely claimed Tuesday that the inflation rate was 9% when he began his presidency.
Biden was criticized by many Republicans, including former president and current presidential rival Donald Trump, for telling CNN in an interview last Wednesday: “No president’s had the run we’ve had in terms of creating jobs and bringing down inflation. It was 9% percent when I came to office, 9%.”
Biden repeated the claim about the inflation rate, albeit in slightly vaguer form, in a Tuesday interview with Yahoo Finance. This time, he said: “I think inflation has gone slightly up. It was at 9% when I came in, and it’s now down around 3%.”
Facts First: Biden’s claim that the inflation rate was 9% when he became president is not close to true. The year-over-year inflation rate in January 2021, the month of his inauguration, was about 1.4%. The Biden-era inflation rate did peak at about 9.1% – but that peak occurred in June 2022, after Biden had been president for more than 16 months. The March 2024 inflation rate, the most recent available rate at the time Biden made these comments, was about 3.5%, up from about 3.2% the month prior.

Maybe he is thinking of his approval rating of the way he is handling the economy... isn't that about 9%?"If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

If he skips the debates, I’ll just not vote for anyone for president…or maybe write in Mitt.

True. By disaster I'm applying the norms of a sane world before Donald Trump stole the sports almanac and skewed us into this alternate 1985 tangent. Mainly I mean it will be enjoyable for me.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
