As someone who is actually dealing with uninsured or underinsured families facing $100K+ of medical bills on a daily basis, I just see things from a completely different perspective than the typical CBer.
          Can these families file bankruptcy?

Insurance to cover these situations, how can we really put them in the pool without raising premiums? There are certainly some issues that need to be fixed.

In Canada and England, does their health care system make it so no one ever gets hurt with high medical costs?

I need to study those systems more to see how they work.

I think we were talking about gomo last week or something to that effect. You are over-thinking this one.

Germany provides universal coverage with a private component. It seems pretty efficient.

As you study those systems, remember to adjust the numbers for the population. The US has about 10x the population of Canada and about 5x the population of the United Kingdom.

The problem is the squads will be run by progressives. They will kill off the responsible, self supporting old people like me who votes against them and tax my estate to save the old dead beat people so they can vote for them.

Yes, these people can and do file bankruptcy. But they often can work out some type of payment plan where most of their debt is forgiven and some type of reasonable payments are made.

In Canada and England no individual gets hurt with high medical costs. But obviously the entire populace suffers from lack of choice and longer waiting times for diagnostic tests and procedures and surgeries. So it's a trade-off.

I have always thought that the German health care system was the one most likely to provide what Americans would most likely support and embrace. I especially think that opt out provisions would be popular here.

Do we not also have a commensurate multiplier of resources? What difference does population size have to do with it?
