You realize she was reading her speech from a script and that the writing on her hands was to help her during the also pre-scripted Q&A session, right?

I don't follow what Obama does much, but it does seem weird that he uses a teleprompter so much. It doesn't seem like a bad idea, just weird. If he was seen with "hope" and "change" written on his left hand, I'd think he was just as dumb as I do Palin.

They should just ignore her or consider her beneath their notice.

I love Palin because the mere mention of her name causes left leaning looneys to come unglued, again...and again...and again....(Matthews, Olbermann et al.) I can't get enough of it.

I don't like Palin. Her use of the terms "hopey changey" is one example of the many stupid things she says.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I wish someone would photoshop this. It would be incredibly funny.

Watching the left froth at the mouth just by her existence is very entertaining.

You'e never jotted down notes before a speech? I am usually jotting down reminder notes right up until my talk. I know many a smart person who writes notes on his/her hand prior to addressing a crowd. People's reactions to this episode reflect more about how they feel about Palin than anything else.

Actually, I try not to use notes when I speak, but my presentations aren't nearly as nerve-racking as hers are, I'm sure. That's neither here nor there anyway. The point is not that Obama is dumb for using a teleprompter, or that Palin is dumb for using a script. The point is that Palin is dumb for needing to write her worn-out platitudes on her hand. Thus my "hope and change" quip.

I suppose there's another point about writing them on her hand in an effort to deceive the audience rather than being up front about having notes for the Q&A.

This is a recurring theme that the media brings up again and again with regards to Republicans - Dan Quayle, George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, and others. If my memory serves me correctly, you don't hear it as much regarding the Democrats.

I get the impression that many of these left-leaning media-types think anyone who is on the conservative side of issues must be dumb, and so they look for proof. And since even very intelligent people get mixed up or say dumb things from time to time, they find the proof they are looking for.

Those on the right are susceptible to the same phenomenon, but when they say it, it doesn't seem to get the same play in the larger media.

Imagine what the news media would do with a photo like this one - of Obama addressing a sixth-grade class - it it were Palin:

Or think of Palin, either one of the Bushes, Reagan, or Quayle referring repeatedly to "corpsmen" as "corpse-men."

I'm embarrassed for you. Not one of your better efforts. OTH, my posts usually suck, so what do I know?

First off, I really don't think either Al Gore or John Kerry were particularly smarter than George W. Bush. Al Gore is certainly a better speaker but I never thought Al Gore was particularly that much brighter than W.

With that said, Obama is much brighter than George W. Bush, IMO. But I also think it's a mistake to say that Bush and Palin are on the same level intelligence-wise. Sarah Palin was completely incapable of discussing any Supreme Court case (Roe v. Wade!!!!!) or even mentioning a newspaper she normally read. These aren't exactly hardball questions.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I think you missed North Shore's point. The media loves to point out who they think are idiots on the right, but is silent when the idiots on the left demonstrate stupidity.

Of course, the media is full of idiots too, so perhaps they choose to be silent about the group with which they prefer to associate themselves.
