The Chinese have had a bullseye on Taiwan for decades, and I'm sure they will make a go for it in the next 10 years or so. Chinese were pissed when the US finalized a $6B arms supply agreement to Taiwan last month:

The US will end up sending billions and billions of arms to Taiwan, but I think it will end up being like when the Chinese swarmed like locust over Korea in the Korean war...I doubt there will be much chance of stopping an invasion there.

OK, I will admit to being totally naive on the subject, so those who are tempted to mock me for the question, you are wasting your energy. I just admitted I am totally naive.

Now my question. How is it in our interests to send billions of dollars to Taiwan and protect them from being taken over by the Chinese. It is about time all these other countries that have received our protection realize we are out of money!!!! France, Germany, Israel, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, we have no more money. If all of you are afraid of anyone, ban together and use your own money. Otherwise, maybe you will just have to become part of some other country.

This I understand, but what is the incentive? Destroying the Taiwanese infrastructure and government of Taiwan in a war would offer China nothing economically or politically.
