Considering he does Ironmans, he is not full of shit.

Arch has never been anything more than MW's lapdog, and has thus treated me with the utmost disdain, so I have nothing to lose in asking this question... do we really know that he does Ironmans?

And even if he does Ironmans, there is a big difference between building up for a huge endurance event, and doing the equivalent of three or more near-marathons each week. In other words, just because he allegedly does Ironmans does not mean that he is capable of sustaining multiple-marathons/week levels of output. Does anyone know that Arch is legit?

There are a few folks here on CUF that have met up with Archaea to participate in athletics.....cycling, for example. I won't name names....if they wish to come forth and clarify, then great.

Point being.....by all eyewitness accounts, whenever people get together to participate in these athletic events with Archaea, he inevitably winds up pounding them into the ground.....and these Cuffers that are participating with him....they are not beginners. They are the ones that you would imagine are the most seasoned cyclists on the board.

Also, pics that he has posted or that have been posted with him in them bear out the fact that he is in extremely sharp physical condition.

Short of someone following him around, there is probably no way to ever verify his miles. But he has proven his acumen to several on the board to the extent that people don't question his athletic accomplishments....at least when it comes to running, cycling, and swimming. I am not saying he is a great basketball player or skier or whatever (he may be, I just dont know).

Yes, many people (including me) can verify that his numbers are legit. You are making a fool of yourself.

I only made it 18. I set out for a 20, but I got a late start, and it was 90 degrees by mile 14. I'm just now overcoming the nauseousness. Looks like I'll do a 20 next week and taper for two.

Well there you go. I was just asking, Lebowski, so no need to start pulling out the 'you're making a fool of yourself' card. The numbers would look suspect to any mere mortal, especially when you add the time for that training to his professional and family obligations and the time he spends on the internet, and on top of that he is pounding out those numbers in Las Vegas, were temps for most of this time have been averaging 100+ degrees. The guy obviously keeps a tight schedule.

Arch has been nothing but a king douchebag in all of his interactions with me, going out of his way mis-interpret and mis-represent me. His mis-representing often seemed willful, which for me called into question his integrity. I don't question other people's integrity on CUF, but Arch has given me reason to question his. That is why I am asking the question, because I don't trust Arch. But I trust you Jeff. So if you are willing to staple your good name to a person claiming to perform the equivalent of four marathons in a week, several times within a two month period, in 100+ degree weather, all while never seeming to log off of the internets... well I will believe it. That is far more generosity I am showing to Arch than he ever showed to me.

I don't blame you for wondering as you're new to the whole running thing, but elite marathoners (or even college runners) routinely put in 20+ miles/day. That's 6 marathons a week.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I was doing the same thing but now I am flipping my schedule to run in the a.m. and riding after work. I had to ride solo today because mtnbker is making the long drive home from Arizona (can we count his miles?) I got in a little over 40 miles this morning and the sun sure got hot fast. Still, no melting resolve here. . .vive el camino

Man, looking at the spreadsheet, today was a huge day for most of us here. That was a ton of miles. Nice work people.

Arch works out at 430 a.m., so it's not a hundred degrees. He works out compulsively, almost masochistically. His numbers are a little high right now, on account of he knows they're going to be on display, but the numbers are accurate.

And yes, his completion of several ironmans (ironmen?) is a matter of record. One need only google his name to find the results. I'm surprised you'd be so shortsighted as to question the veracity of something that could be so easily verified.

I can only assume you're trying to help us in our efforts to smoke him out, and for that I thank you.

So, I'm getting used to the hills, getting used to longer distances, growing accustomed to riding on the occasional hot Saturday... now I just need to not get pissed at the cross winds. I felt pretty good coming home today, but I just grew tired of the wind gusts. 50-ish miles, though.
