I can not abide working out indoors. I was reminded of this this morning when I was at my mid-ride water bottle fill up point. It is a hilltop community park. The sun was coming up over the ridge behind me, the coastal fog was curling over teh ridge I could see across the valley in front of me, the air was crisp and cool, and there was slight breeze bringing the sweet smell of summer foliage and the distant ocean air to my nose. You can not get that indoors. It makes riding a bike such a wonderful activity.

Where do you lift weights? Do you lug them to the top of a hill or to the middle of a grassy meadow? I'm looking for a nice, scenic spot to lift weights. Panoramic views would be a plus. thanks.Originally posted by creekster View PostI can not abide working out indoors. In my garage. I raise the door and its like being outside. but to be honest, I rarely lift weights in the summer when I am riding a lot.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWhere do you lift weights? No it isn't. Nor is riding a bike an all-encompassing "workout." So you need to be able to do both. I think there is a reason pretty much all athletes train inside and outside.Originally posted by creekster View PostIn my garage. I get all the outdoors stuff you are talking about while on a board. It is nice to be outside. I don't mind being inside, though. I'd rather see women's butts than fog and ridges any day.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Being so touchy, you are clearly a runner. I didnt say YOU shoudl feel the same, nor did I calim that I was presenting the unquestioned epitome of a workout. I said I didnt like to workout indoors. That was pretty simple. If you think I am an idiot, that's ok with me. Smarter people than you have thought so.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostNo it isn't. I hate working out indoors. I'd rather run in Houston in August than hit a treadmill or set up the trainer. Right now I'm reduced to lifting, which is indoors by default, and which is b-o-r-i-n-g. I don't know how guys like pelagius spend so much time doing this stuff.

I agree, I hate indoors. It has to be less than 10 degrees outside before I move my walk/run to the gym.Originally posted by Babs View PostI hate working out indoors. I may be small, but I'm slow.

...runners. They're an odd bunch aren't they. 10°...snow covered roads....out running in it.
I'd much rather be on my bike, on my trainer watching a movie inside when it's snowy out."Newton's First Law of Motion: ...things at rest tend to stay at rest. Things in motion, tend to stay in motion...."
Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

what?!! you're a disgrace to the name cyclist!!Originally posted by The Borg View PostI'd much rather be on my bike, on my trainer watching a movie inside when it's snowy out.
Of course, I suppose we should make some allowance for your case - I imagine you start to rust if you're out in the elements too long.
