I had an awesome run in a thunderstorm at midnight the other day.

Excuses. You know, I don't think these runners are a good influence on you. You need to come back to the fold.

      • 56.65 miles today.

28 in to work...and a flat to boot! Noticed I had a 'chunk' of rubber missing on my back tire (new as of 1.5 months).

28+ home....stopped off at the bike shop to swap out my relatively brand spankin' new tire. They said it would still be under warranty, and gave me a loaner til they had the exact tire in. I am ticked...a "red rimmed tire" on my blue bike. Not good karma.

Funny...as I was fixing my flat today...I was 2 miles from my work. It was 90+ today, and so I walked my bike over across the street to a nice shady spot on a grassy field. Take out all the essentials, flip the bike over and begin repair operations.

Just as I get the back tire off...the sprinkler system comes on! oi vey! ...my luck.

          • I am a fat ass.

I finally got my first ride in. Just a quickie, but I haven't been on the bike or really done anything besides....well nothing for the last 8 months.

I got 4.78 miles in. Weak sauce I know, but better than zero. Temps were coming down tonight and I ran into a darkness issue.

I ride a Schwinn MB though, so it is like riding an iron lung around.

It only took about 20 minutes. But like I said...I am extremely fat. Going to take some time for me to get my lungs up to something.

During the ride though, I thought I was going to be up for some Kellon Winslow treatment.

I throw a towel over my shoulders to wipe sweat and cool down for 20-30 min., then change.

This is my problem as well. Gidget won't even touch my workout clothes when I am done. They are always completely soaked through. It actually gets annoying running because sweat runs down my forearms and I end up having to wipe them constantly or shaking them free of the tickling streams of sweat.

The only time that sweating like I do is of benefit is playing basketball. Nobody wants to body me up. Not that they'd have to. I don't go within 20' of the rim. Just sayin'.

Too true. Only I am like Phillip Seymour Hoffman yelling "Raindrops" and "Let it rain" everytime I let the ball fly.

                        • Six mile run this morning. Pace was just a touch over 9 minutes per mile. Don't laugh, but that's a good pace for me.

                          • 5 miles for me today. But it was windy, so I'm invoking the "Lebowski" rule and rounding it up.

                            • I did 52.00 cycling (my longest to date) yesterday. My legs were ok, but my arse was sore. My hands kept falling asleep too - not sure what to do about that.

My goal is to get to a hundred miles a week by end of summer. I may even buy some lycra soon.

                              • Nothing for me this morning. Wrenching on the RV at 6:00a kept me from running. I did notice I've got a little bit of heel pain after running a couple days. I hope my plantar fascitis doesn't return.

Probably nothing to report as running or riding this weekend, but I will get some great hiking in.
