"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."
Wait, does mine not show up? I think I have you by a couple tenths. Hard-earned tenths, I might add.
OB is leading but barely. Looks like I have to run over 5 miles to claim early morning "Winning" tomorrow. Yeah, I'm not gonna do that.

Cupcake's presence (and an impressive start!) makes the spreadsheet's title a bit inapt, but I suspect she doesn't mind.
And I'm curious if we will, in fact, run across America during the contest. As we have Cuffers in both San Francisco and NYC, I envision a run from the Golden Gate to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, a distance per Google of 2,928 miles on I-80. As of this moment, we've run from San Francisco to Auburn and we're heading up and over the Sierra for Thanksgiving in Reno. We need to average a little over 60 miles a day, which may be tough given the holidays. But we don't want to spend New Years in Youngstown, OH, so let's hit the road, people.
I'll post daily updates as to where we are in the fair land.

Is there a way to set up the route and progress on google maps? I'm guessing there is and that it wouldn't be that hard to do, but I'm not the guy to do it. Post a link if anyone is so inclined. I want to know where I just ran!
And yes! I'm in first again. For a few minutes anyway.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Nice. I'm just outside of Auburn for the holidays. Running in the Sierra foothills is not so fun.
"You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."
"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. It's my fault for overestimating your competence."
You guys are dorks (but likeable dorks, nonetheless). Maybe somebody needs to invent an indoor running simulator, where you put your treadmill in front of a big screen, select the venue, and then start running. I wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure there are plenty of running dorks who would. (Heck, it probably already exists, who am I kidding).
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Seriously--the gym here has a indoor cycle machine with virtual scenery and competitors. It's pretty fun, but also shows just how boring cycling can be.

I'm looking into it, but I doubt there's anyone in our group less technologically adept than I am.
For now, we're running through Colfax a railroad town named after the Speaker of the House who presided over the passage of the 13th Amendment (and featured briefly in Lincoln), and who with U.S. Grant became the youngest President/VP combo in U.S. history until Clinton/Gore displaced them.
And hostile's right, these hills are killers. We're already at 2400 ft above sea level, on our way to 7100 feet over Donner Summit. I wish niku and BigPiney would step it up... [edit: apologies, nik, you're doing fine; it's the bish we need to prod]
Running through Nevada will provide a real challenge for trivia seekers.
