You should have Jeff change your username to The_Drouger. doctorcoug would shit a brick."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

Just saw this. I'm in. I need to get running again. Summer really messes with my ability to consistantly exercise. I'll be starting out (and likely finishing) with low miles. 3.75 tonight."You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

While I was swimming this morning (no lie) the thought occurred to me that I missed the better joke above. This would've been better...Originally posted by The_Douger View PostYes, I should. It would anger noctorcoug if I did such a thing.

If you're looking for other category ideas that may not all fall to nik, what about accumulating PRs? Whether it's a new speed PR, a distance, a weekly distance total? These would encourage personal competition.Originally posted by Moliere View PostLooks like we have a quorum. I’ve put together a simple Google spreadsheet. The spreadsheet should be editable to anyone with the link. Click on the link and put your name on the spreadsheet. The competition officially starts on Monday, November 19. Here are a couple ground rules:
Competition categories
- Most miles – We might just call this the Nikuman award (Topper’s not around now is he?). It’s his to lose. Hopefully someone will step up and go all aTm on him
- Most consistent – This will be for the person that runs most consistently on a weekly basis. I figure there should be a minimum of 10 miles per week
- Most improved – For the person that adds the most miles from start to finish.
So... your heel has a tendency to shoot small missiles out at passersby? Yes, that would be dangerous to all around so we thank you for not running near us.Originally posted by wuapinmon View Post

Just a couple things and responses:
- I didn't propose teams. That's too much work to try and figure out what teams are fair and you always have some people that run but don't update. In the end I figured a personal competition among friends would be best.
- I think we'll stick with the first 3 competitions that I proposed just to keep it simple (most miles, consistent, improved). Prizes will be awarded and will likely be very similar to what HFNW proposed.
- I've added a column to the spreadsheet to show those that are participating in the charity portion of the challenge. The person who gets to pick the charity will be the person with the most miles that is participating in the charity portion. For example, if Nikuman gets the most miles but hasn't pledged to paricipate in the charity he wouldn't pick and it would fall to the next highest-mile guy that is particiapting in the charity thing). I figure people can check the box on the spreadsheet to show they are participating. If ultimately you are opposed to the charity that is chosen by the winner then feel free to back out, however I don't expect the winner to chose something controversial.
And if you haven't already done it, go and sign up on the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...GRlQWRHSmdvbUE"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Concerned by this threat, and to eliminate any sexual ambiguity on my part, I changed mine to reflect both my gender and my school allegiance.Originally posted by HBCoug View PostWhoever changed my highlight to pink, know two things: 1) Not cool. 2) It doesn't bother me. I'm a man. I'm 37.

As for me, I choose America and her colors. That, and as close as I could come to BYU's throwback uniform color of my youth.

I'm really looking forward to this - I always do better when I've got something to report.
Unfortunately, those of you speaking of low mileage while telling of your 3.75 and 4 mile runs are in no danger from me. I took a week off my calf and then alternated 2 minutes running vs walking on Wednesday. I figured I'd go for 30 minutes, however far that ended up being without pushing it. Of course, as per usual I felt the need to do more and decided to run 5 minutes straight to finish off - only to feel something tighten 2:30 into that 5 minutes and just walk it out to finish.
I ended up just over 2 miles. I figure I can do that 3X a week to begin and hope to slowly add to it - but 6-7 miles a week isn't going to impress anyone.
Hopefully by the end of December I'll be back to straight running, and 3-4 miles at a time.

I'm in. Although, I don't think I will call what I am going to attempt to do as running. I have made excuse after excuse on what/when/how I am going to start exercising. I have started P90x, now I am going to add in cardio to that. Thank you for a bit of motivation.I'm your huckleberry.

Even if it's just one run a week it's more than nothing. Looking forward to having some of these new faces join in on the running crowd."Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
