I'm in. Unfortunately, the only way I can stay in for a month is to log a small number of miles to avoid shin splints. We'll see how it goes.

Ouch! Maybe if you can get SpaceGhost back you can set up a swimming challenge.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostGoing on four years now."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. I was thinking about this during my morning run. It's a traditional giving time of year, and I assume we want some level of motivation for people like me who aren't logging the most miles*. To that end, I hereby commit to donate a penny for every mile that CUFfers log during the contest period to a charity. For example, if 20 people run 20 miles per week for the six weeks, then I will donate $24 ($0.01 x 20 x 20 x 6).
I know it's a small amount, but I think the feeling that we're running together for a good cause will be a good motivator for some and will add to the experience. Also, if anyone else wants to do the same thing, there will be a multiplier effect.
*I saw just now that Moliere came up with several categories for the competition, which also addresses this issue. Nice job."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone

Done (not that a guy with an Oregon football uni in his avatar has much room to talk).Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI could get behind Joe's idea of donating to a cause of the winners choice, if he changes his avatar from the dice showing 7. 7's on dice are the worst."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone

I like this idea. I don't want people to feel they have to join in, but this is something I can get behind. I'll also pledge $0.01 for every mile ran. For those who can't (or choose not to) participate in donating to charity, their miles can still be factor in how much we donate.Originally posted by Joe Public View PostI was thinking about this during my morning run. Are you okay with the winner being the person that chooses the charity? I like that idea as long as it's not church affiliated and not the BSA."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. It might be best that people choose their own. I've seen some strong feelings on this board regarding different charities (BSA, United Way, etc.), and I wouldn't want anyone to be in the position of choosing between reneging on a pledge or donating to an organization that triggers mixed (or even bad) feelings.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI like this idea. That being said, I'm fine with nikuman choosing the charity if that's how we want to do it.

Are you sure you're medically qualified to make that prescription?Originally posted by The_Douger View PostSwimming it is!"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

Great idea, Moliere.
No teams?
I'm on board for the donation thing, but only if I approve of the charity.
