Thought I'd check in here with the New Year starting and all. I pretty much bailed on the diet between Turkey Day and New Year's. The good news is I had only gained about 5 lbs in that time frame. Mrs. FM says my eating habits have changed noticably, even when "cheating". If we go out to eat for example, I am stuffed after probably half of what I used to eat on a regular basis.
The better news is that I dropped the 5 lbs already. So as of now I am right at 275, down from 315 when I started at the beginning of August. I'm changing up the diet a bit as I'm starting a serious workout program now. Up until now it had been 99% diet, 1% exercies (just walking and even then not that consistently). But tomorrow I start the BeachBody Power 90 program. This is the pre-cursor to P90X and is what they recommend if you are not ready for P90X based on the fit test. So I'm following the nutrition guide that comes with that program.
Here's to saying good by to the next 76 lbs. in 2010. My goal right now is anything inside of 200. We are taking our first family trip back to Texas in April. How cool would it be to show up there 100 lbs lighter than when I left?
This is fantastic, FM. I found that when I shifted from the 99% diet phase to the exercise phase I lost weight even faster. You've already made a ton of progress - 40 pounds is real weight! - so keep doing what you're doing and you'll lose the next 76 pounds no problem!
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.
Would you be up to posting what changes you made to the diet?
Really just adding in some more carbs. What I had been doing was very slim on carbs and high on good protein with the only carbs being a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast each day, fruits and veggies. Now that I'm starting up the workout program I need soem more good carbs.

Two days into P90. I hurt in places I didn't know I had places.
I found that after teh first 2 days I was in a world of hurt. By the beginning of hte second week I had learned how much I could do without making it so that I couldn't function. Amazing how fast your body adapts. I rarely get more than a little sore now.
Guess I should resurrect this thread since I'm littering The Gym and The Bike Shop again. Regarding the thread title, I guess it's true that you have only failed when you quit trying right?
