    He stole them.

He also craves Oakley golf shoes. When finding out my feet are much, much larger than his he offered to give them back stating I "left" them at the course.

Frankly I'm scared to pick them up lest his administrative assistant berates me for having my shoes stink up the office for far too long.

Well either the above or I haven't been golfing due to my jacked up left foot which will be operated on Thursday. Out of site out of mind.

        Question for the golf experts:

I obsess about whether or not I have the optimized golf equipment. I know the shaft is very important. I've always gotten differing opinions on what kind of shaft I should use X or S. My swing speed dictates an X. My misses are more often to the left than right, which would imply all other variables perfect that the shaft is too weak rather than too strong. But when I've asked clubfitters on occasion over the years, some say I need an X, some scoff at the idea of a high handicapper using an X and tell me to use a stiff. But the more I read, it seems the reason high handicappers are told not to use an X is because they would struggle to hit the ball high in the air. I hit the ball very high (too high?)

Right now I have a graphite shaft stiff in my driver that feels OK. Graphite shaft stiff in my 3 hybrid that feels a little whippy. X-100 steel shaft in a 4 hybrid that is my favorite club (but i can tell on occasion when I don't get a good body turn that I'm not getting any snap from the shaft). X-100's soft stepped once in my irons that feel OK. Uniflex in a gap wedge that also feels good.

Getting ready to replace some of my clubs and want to optimize things perfectly.

        Maybe it just doesn't matter?

Last week I saw the Nike Air Rate and Nike Air Range and was intrigued by how light they are. Seriously, they are the lightest golf shoes I've ever seen.

I never saw this thread. I have a pair of those and they are maybe the most comfortable shoes I own.

I would guess that they're also the ugliest shoes you own, but then again you wear Stacy Adams.

I would totally take you up on that bet. He's a Ducks fan, after all.

You conveniently excised my qualification to suit your own pithy remark!

And it was a guess, not a bet!

I debated whether this should go under the Impulse Buy thread or not, but I had been thinking about purchasing a belly putter for a little while. Tick beat me to the punch, so of course after he got his, it was on. However, as to not completely copy him, I didnt go for the Taylormade Ghost Spider.

It is 39" Scotty Cameron Kombi Mid from Scotty's Custom Shop. At 39" it fits pretty well (I have short legs and a gut... ). If I lose my gut, I may need to get it extended by an inch or so... The head is pretty large compared to my center-shafted Oddessy 2-Ball putter. I cant wait to take it out Friday.

On a side note, my wife is adding up all my little "impulse purchases" and said she expects a really good Christmas this year.

I've heard that if a guy loses his gut the extra inch or so just happens.

I need to put in my $.02 for Golf Galaxy. Back in December when the r11 dropped to $269 I picked one up. Last week I was golfing with some weirdo from the PNW, when my the r11 started making a rattling sound, almost as if something had broken off inside. It was minor, and didn't seem to affect the way the club performed. That said, I just dropped nearly 300 bones on this thing, and I didn't like knowing it wasn't perfect.

As luck would have it, I was just outside the 90-day manufacturer's warranty. I called up Golf Galaxy, and they told me to bring it in. They looked at it, took it apart, tightened it back up, and when it still rattled, grabbed a new club off the rack and handed it to me.

It is a great club, and I feel more confident with it in my hands than I ever have any driver. I hit it longer than any driver i've ever owned. I like it so much I didn't feel even a titch of disappointment when TMade released the r11s less than a month after my purchase (i knew it was coming, of course, but when they did that with the r7, I was a little saddened).

Daddy likey. Plus, as someone who grew up in Utah, I dig products that end in z. I'm glad it only took TM a season to ditch the neon green.

I've been the rounds with it, and, in the words of George Costanza "I'm back baby!" My setup and swing mechanics were pretty crappy for a large portion of last summer. My last few trips to the driving range suggest I've figured out what was wrong.
