You are correct. Always run against traffic.

Thankfully I can go 6-7 miles in my subdivision and not get off the sidewalk. Actually, it's not really a sidewalk in that it doesn't go past houses and instead goes along the road, lake, golf course so it's more like a jogging trail. It's nice not having to worry about getting hit by a car.

In high school we used to run against traffic all the time on 5600 S and Vanwinkle. Sometimes we'd also do it on Highland drive. I'm glad I don't do that anymore because it just seems flat out dangerous to me now.

    • Yesterday I did 5 miles. It was the hardest 5 miles mentally i have run. I wanted to quit the minute I ran out the door. That has happened before, but usually you start keep going and 2 miles in I catch my stride and you are in business. Not yesterday, struggled all day long.

Today, ran a 5k balls to the wall. Set a PR at 24:59 8:01 pace. I don't understand, but I enjoy todays and try and forget yesterdays.

      Sub 25min 5k. Hell yeah.

          Way to go, Coach.

            PRs are awesome!

Are you running the full or half at Disney World? (Wondering if I will run with you or cheer you on -- as I sleep in on Sunday.)
I have nothing else to say at this time.

Do you use compression calf sleeves? I highly recommend them.

Anything 10k and above I do. But I haven't for shorter runs.

                    • After treating me to beautiful mornings between 55-65 degrees, Houston this morning gave me 75 degree weather for my 7.3 mile run . I made it through just fine but I thought the days of sweating like Patrick Ewing were over for at least 9 months. I guess not.

I recently started running 4 times a week and my legs are sure feeling it. I'm being careful with the mileage but it sure makes a difference to run 3 days in row.

At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

This is correct. I'm guessing the bikers who tell you this are wearing jeans and no helmet?

And the runners are wearing Reeboks.

                            • Ran a 5k this morning. Official chip time was 32:34, but the chip only ended the clock, the gun started it. I've never run a race like that and assumed the chip started and stopped the clock so I didn't bother moving close to the front. I ran at a 10:13 avg pace (according to my phone) which would put me closer to 31:30. I started too fast, thinking I could maybe break 30 minutes. Anyway, its a new PR for me and 13 minutes faster than my first 5k on 7/28. Sub-30 is next.
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Right on, lambda. A 13 minute improvement deserves serious props. You'll be under 30 before you know it.
