I'm no anatomy expert, doctor, or physical therapist, so the explanation is pretty bad. Googling it, I have something like this: Slipping rib syndrome: Causes, treatment, and diagnosis

    Sheesh, good luck.

I am "working" on my pelvic tilt at the moment! Seems similar. Who knew there were so many things we had to do to keep our bodies bodying.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Did your wife fall for that? "Honey, the physical therapist says we have to!"

        No, unfortunately, she did not.

          Sad.

          • I went on a run today and came upon 2 dogs running free. Hate that. Makes me want to start carrying pepper spray.

This was similar to my first thought as well: "I bet he's getting a lot of mileage using the ol' pelvic tilt routine"

Don't knock it until you've tilted it.

                • This running is kicking my butt. I hope it gets easier. My back/ribs are doing a lot better, and it is barely noticeable at this point.

I successfully did a 6-mile run on Saturday but have dealt with the consequences since. I've had bad tendonitis in my knees. My run was super painful this morning. But my physical therapist got me some stretched for it, yesterday. I did them before I ran and they didn't help much, and I suffered through my run this morning. I did them again after my run and my knees feel much better.

My ankylosing spondylitis is also acting up today and my SI joint in in my lower back is super stiff.

With my back/ribs feeling better, I'm hopeful I can get my tendonitis under control soon too. We'll see. My physical therapist has been a big help. I'm sure my SI joint will continue to flair up now and then, but I've been dealing with that for over a decade.

I did end up buying a Garmin smartwatch. I'm really liking it so far, except I'm still not used to the UI and buttons and what they do.
I've ditched the original 20 week prep plan and am going with the Garmin plan that it has for me.

                      • Went for a long trail run with my wife on Saturday. We self-shuttled and did a point to point run on the dirt for 13 miles. It was awesome. Took our time and walked most of the technical, rocky sections. Wore my Deuter hydration pack. Took 2 liters of water, and one liter of electrolytes. Finished the electrolytes, but still had over a liter of water. Lesson learned for next time. But it felt really good on my back. No chafing or sliding around. Really happy with the purchase.

Sounds awesome. Any water sources along the way that you could filter? I would be happier carrying 1 liter and then refilling.

2 weeks ago on a run I had a sharp pain in the ball of my foot. I was really worried that is was the sesamoid, just based on location. After letting it rest, I think it was more a tendon strain. Going to give it a go some time this week. It was a 6 mile trail run, so I may have just hit a rock wrong, but wow did it hurt for a few days.

No water along the way, aside from a couple of very small seasonal creeks, which will likely be dry in a couple of weeks. They run pretty good in the winter, but when its cold like that, I probably wouldn't need more than a liter anyway for a 2 or 2 1/2 hour run.

With your family history of sesamoiditis, gotta keep an eye on that, right?

Do you have a rock plate in your trail shoes? I wore my Brooks Catamounts and was quite comfortable. My wife wore her regular road running shoes. She made it just fine, but was definitely feeling the rocks by the end of the run.

Yeah, that is why my mind went there.

I was running in my Ghosts. Probably should bust out the Cascadias more often, though I save them for backpacking.

                              • I ended up taking this week off. The tendonitis was just too much. I was supposed to run 5-8 miles last Saturday. I made it 4 before the pain was just too much. I've struggled walking all week but am about back to normal, so I will try to get back to training tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully the swelling stays low and my continuous stretching helps keep things manageable.
