I have been doing a lot of online reading since you posted this. I generally put sta-bil in my gas can. I found a hole in the wall place that sells ethanol-free gas. However, I wonder if it better to buy regular gas from a good gas station with fresh gas and continue to use sta-bil or use the ethanol-free gas but that may be several months old already? What do you think? I have also wondered the same thing about the pre-mixed stuff you can buy at hardware store, how long has that been sitting there? I got this information from a bunch of mechanics I work with. They tell me that the alcohol is hard on hoses and leaves build up in areas that can cause problems. I don't know much about Sta-bil. The guys use a stabilizer for winter storage, I will have to ask them about the ethanol neutralizing version.Originally posted by Sullyute View PostComment

Why would it matter much? Standard automotive gas contains ethanol and it flows through hoses. Whats the problem? Besides, what are we talking about...7% ethanol at the gas pump?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Up to 10%. Small engines are notoriously finicky. I just bought a Honda HRX217HZA. Variable-speed drive, twin blades, composite deck, electric start, etc. It is a fantastic mower. I had no idea a lawn mower could be so good.Not that, sickos.Comment

I actually went and talked to the owner of the station that sells non-ethanol fuel locally. He has been going thru the non-ethanol gas like crazy and has opened up another pump for non-ethanol gas because of all the demand. So my worry about stale ethanol-free gas has been abated.
