Nothing worse than a RS president who can't keep her trap shut except maybe a bishop's wife. Although, the men in my current ward seem to gossip as much if not more than the women. Go figure.Originally posted by nikuman View PostDefinitely RS president, with a bonus if she learns how to keep her trap shut.
I'd put YM/Scout leaders up there pretty high on the pay scale. At least give them a stipend so they don't have to use all their vacation days for the campouts.
As for the tea stuff, I share your views nikuman. I remember as a young child, I drank iced tea all the time. My dad wasn't a member of the church and iced tea was a staple in our home. I went to church by myself and remember around the age of 10 getting a lesson on the WoW and being told iced tea was not all right. So, I gave it up. To this day, I still crave it when I see it being served.

The juxtaposition of these two acts by Prophet DDD is confusing to me as a member. I'm voting for Nikuman, with MarkGrace as his 1st Counselor. Now if they can just get a modern day J. Golden to swear from the pulpit as the 2nd Counselor, we'd all be set.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostFirst, caffeinated soda.....skip it. Third, missions are cool. You don't have to go if you don't want to go. Girls, stop being stuck up about dating guys that didn't go on missions. Guys, get over yourself...most of you are not good enough at your sport to go pro, so you you might as well go on a mission.

I wish Surfah would back me up on this. I am not saying he has to stop eating meat, which would be impossible in his family. But I rarely feel like eating it (beef, pork, or even chicken). He just gets pissed off at me. I don't do this to follow the word of wisdom, but there has to be some reason they said this right? - maybe because meat was harder to come by and to store??? I dunno.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

You know how President Hinckley said he doesn't worry about those who pray? The same can be said for men who are self-aware enough to know when there's a life to be lived outside of the world of video games. - Anonymous

The manner in which you frame that question implies that there must have been some reason that is no longer valid. Maybe it is still valid, but we (including our leaders) simply choose to ignore it. Or maybe we choose to observe that part of the WoW in the spirit of the original revelation: friendly counsel.Originally posted by Gidget View PostI wish Surfah would back me up on this. So if someone makes a delicious beverage that mixes water and plant ingredients, and he calls it Tasty T.'s Tasty Juice, it is ok to drink that.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Posthence not drinking any tea...herbal or otherwise.
But, if Tasty T.'s realizes that he can sell twice the beverage by renaming his product Tasty T.'s Tasty Tea, all of a sudden the exact same beverage is WOW verboten.
Question DDD, why do you let Tasty T. define for you your religious observation when Tasty T. is a known anti-Mormon?

My question would simply be, "is Tasty T's Juice" coffee or tea? If so, I will pass. If not, I will probably still pass because it has sugar and I don't drink my calories anymore.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostSo if someone makes a delicious beverage that mixes water and plant ingredients, and he calls it Tasty T.'s Tasty Juice, it is ok to drink that.

Tasty T's beverage is sugar-free berries steeped in hot water that have then been chilled. Some people might choose to call this delicious sugar-free beverage 'juice' or 'tea,' but Tasty T's decision to call it either one is based only on projected sales, and has nothing to do with Mr. Tasty's opinion on what the beverage actually is. Since this is a hypothetical scenario, please assume that you have tasted the pre-tea Tasty T's Tasty tea, and you thought it was delish.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostMy question would simply be, "is Tasty T's Juice" coffee or tea? Now again, why are you letting Tasty T's beverage marketing campaign determine your religious observation?

In that case, I will stick with the pre-tea iteration, as there seems to be no ambiguity there. if there is some ambiguity, I will pass. Also, apparently I found it to be tasty, so why switch?Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostTasty T's beverage is sugar-free berries steeped in hot water that have then been chilled. There's nothing funny about that. The reason to switch is because Tasty T's Tasty Juice is now only available in Utah. Tasty T's Tasty Tea is an identical product (stated as much on Mr. Tasty's official beverage web site, and a point he has made in numerous tweets to his LDS fans), but only the tealess 'tea' is available in CA.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIn that case, I will stick with the pre-tea iteration, as there seems to be no ambiguity there. if there is some ambiguity, I will pass. What ticket are you on? DDD? MarkGrace? Nikuman/MarkGrace? Also way to go Gracie, nothing like running against yourself!Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostBTW, if people are running for prophet, count me in. 'Prophet' or 'Apostle' are the only two callings awesome enough to get me to consider rejoining. I would totally be an 'Apostle' to you guys. I haven't had any tea since early 1991, but if I smell it, my mouth will still water. A cold iced tea with a Mrs. Winner's chicken biscuit was one of my favorite snacks after football practice. When I was a missionary we spouted some BS about tea having "más de treinta químicos diferentes," and I would always think, "Yes, delicious, delicious chemicals."Originally posted by Soccermom View PostTo this day, I still crave it when I see it being served."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action.
