Because let's face it--the churches were a lot cleaner back when they were being cleaned by someone who was getting paid to do it.

I plan to plagiarize this in a group text I belong to. Though the lack of spelling errors and the double dashes, will likely give away I’m not the author.

I created an algorithm that can translate any statement into Art Vandelay speak. I just inserted that paragraph and this came out:

The big news, from all this, is that Christ's Restored Church has enough money to pay, to have the churches cleaned by folks who knows cleanin'. It's not so much news really, cause we already knowed that anyways. But, seriously, we, give up, most, of, our, Sunday and 10% of our earnin's. Can't we pay some folks to clean the building and clean it good? We all know these chapels was lots cleaner back when they was being cleaned by folks who knows cleanin and was gettin sum' out of the work. Also, I was once a bishop.

Yeah, seems like a good plan to me... They say the wicked will be burned as if in an oven in the last days but those that pay a full tithing will be lifted up and will not be burned. In other words the full tithe payers will get a seat on one of the church's rockets that will take us into space while global warming cooks the wicked back on Earth. But those rockets that will take the good folks to Kolob are not going to build themselves, just like Noah's boat. I am not sure if $100b is going to be enough to get us to Kolob, however. Maybe the Lord will reveal warp drive for our rocket ships. That would be nice.

The 5% rule is for private foundations. A religious organization is not subject to that rule.

My issue: there is so much good that could be done by utilizing the income from $100B. $60mm per year seems woefully low in humanitarian aid when you can make over 100x that annually in new excess tithes and interest earned.

Where does that 60 million number come from? I ask because I’ve heard that vastly different amounts quoted over the last few days and prior to that.

Isn't that number from the church? I know that Oaks in 2016 said the church spends 40 million in humanitarian aid, so the number seems about right.

I tend to agree that there is nothing really to see here. You can argue that the church should do more, but I don't see anything inherently wrong with stockpiling money. I do wonder why missionaries are paying to serve though with all the wealth accumulated. It seems like the donation of time should be sufficient.
