That's the first time I've seen it so I'm glad you posted it; it is great. I'm very high on JustServe.org and the IRC may be my favorite non-Church /BYU charity.

That will need to change over time. We will need to rethink what makes someone a good candidate for bishop and counselors. Being great with youth isn’t going to be merely important—that is the job.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostWorries. We have cut in half the number of quorum meetings. We have now reduced the number of adults leading them. I’m concerned that bishoprics will struggle to delegate to EQ/RS, and this will put additional strain on them. In my ward specifically, the bishopric members aren’t great with youth.

I don't think number of adults in class or at activities will change.

My Bishopric is in class and at weekday activities most of the time.Originally posted by All-American View PostConcerns meaning affects, or concerns meaning worries?
In ways I see these changes as institutionalizing what some recognized as best practices already. In my transient period between graduating from law school and setting into our current home we had 6 or 7 different bishops (a combination of moving and releases). At least one was doing exactly what was instructed today. As president of the priests quorum he was in class with them every week, attended every activity, and clearly stated that he considered it his primary responsibility.

I think something like this is long over due. For far too long adult members have monopolized the Bishop's time. Now, the bishopric can legitimately tell people: speak to the EQ or RS President. I have to look after the youth.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostThe change to YM organizations is the first hold-my-root-beer change that concerns me.

That Memento-like JustServe commercial is great.
Edit: I guess it was released 7 months ago. My bad.

The Bishop will always remain as judge in Israel, so responsibility for temple recommend interviews will remain with the Bisopric. As well, the EQ President and Relief Society president are already responsible for ministering to the adult members. And now, Young Women's presidents are expected to take on a greater role in counselling the young women. So, is there any reason why a Ward council shouldn't be more involved in decisions concerning Ward organizational callings?Originally posted by beefytee View PostDo they move temple recommend interviews to the elders quorum and relief society presidencies? Are they going to be more responsible for Ward callings now? That seems to be what needs to happen to free up the bishopric for the youth.

It was always the Bishop's job, but Bishops were too busy looking after adult members so it became the role of the young mens presidents. It's good that the job now belongs to the whole Bishopric, and men will now be called as their advisors.Originally posted by LVAllen View PostThe way I view it is that the members of the YM presidency had primary responsibility to advise their respective quorums, with assistant advisors. Now that responsibility is the bishopric's. They can be re-called to assist, but ultimately it's the member of the bishopric's job now.
