I'm not doctor, but I would think healing from a stab wound is more involved than receiving an apology. In fact, an apology seems pretty low on the list of what's needed to heal a stab wound.Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View PostHere is a simpler analogy:
November 2015:
Prophet: It is God's will that I stab you with this knife
<stabs person with knife>
April 2019
Prophet: God rescinds his policy that I should stab you with this knife
Stabbed person: That is great that you rescinded the stabbing me with a knife policy, but I had medical bills and still have complications from the stabbing. An apology would be nice
Prophet: It was God's will, we don't apologize for God's will.
The damage done by the policy, and the damage was significant, does not just go away by getting rid of the policy. If you want any measure of healing to those damaged, an apology is necessary."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Agreed. That is why the stabbed person has medical bills he/she needs to pay.Originally posted by Pelado View PostI'm not doctor, but I would think healing from a stab wound is more involved than receiving an apology. And an apology is necessary for the stab wound to achieve any measure of healing?Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View PostAgreed. That is why the stabbed person has medical bills he/she needs to pay.
Without an apology, will the wound continue to bleed? Become infected? Lead to amputation? How much can a stab wound heal without getting an apology from the perpetrator?Originally posted by MartyFunkhouserIf you want any measure of healing to those damaged, an apology is necessary."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

The pscyhe needs to heal after an attack, I think is where this is headed.Originally posted by Pelado View PostAnd an apology is necessary for the stab wound to achieve any measure of healing?

Seeing as how it was your first post, I'd say by definition it was your best work. Certainly your body of work since then (i.e., your second post) hasn't surpassed it.Originally posted by ScoopJahoop View PostThanks! Disagree. The second was better than the first. It was certainly more clever.Originally posted by All-American View PostSeeing as how it was your first post, I'd say by definition it was your best work. Certainly your body of work since then (i.e., your second post) hasn't surpassed it.

I will admit it is an imperfect analogy. The stab wound will heal without the apology. Now if you want healing of the relationship between the stabber and the stabbed, that will require the apology.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostThe pscyhe needs to heal after an attack, I think is where this is headed.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Church History is rife with incidents of doctrine trumping and then wreaking havoc on social cohesion. WoW, Polygamy, etc created a barrier between Mormons and their neighbors or their apostates. Maybe we'll one day have a new section in the D&C to wit: "And it must needs be that I show them, for a time, the importance of love over doctrine."
