Are you saying he is trolling? I assure you Indy means all of this ugliness. It's funny that you say Indy is "playing" us when all he is spouting is the most essential Mormon dogma. It's telling how jarringly inelegant and nonsensical it sounds stated so starkly on a message board. I think I've made it clear that I don't take his message seriously enough to address it in a sober way.

If anyone wants to have a serious discussion about the panorama of Mormon history from Palmyra to the Great Basin; about Mormonism's place in the family tree of religions; about Mormonism's being the but for cause of even someone like myself's values; Joseph's status as a genuine American prophet in his own right; the long philosophical road that led to Christianity; the interplay of freedom of religion and separation of church and state; the obligations and blessings associated with freedom of speech, and so forth, I'm game. But come at me with the old chauvenism and I won't respond seriously.

But here's what I'm wondering. For those who subscribe to the one true church model, who see the world in those (limiting) terms, here's what I don't get. Why doesn't the LDS Church being centuries late to the civil rights "group hug" of itself disqualify it as a candidate? How could it get so totally wrong something so absolutely monumental and so central to human progress? That's my question to such people. (It's no wonder Indy downplays tolerance as a pramount value and human aspiration.)

In an attempt to reroute this thread back to its origins, I agree with you that God doesn't mince words. But who is the mouthpiece? I know who your answer is to that question, which is why these issues that have been addressed are important, whether they are 500# or 100# gorillas. If someone is going to take the title as God's mouthpiece, it should be expected that their actions and words are scrutinized, and their motives challenged.

I like the pictures from "What Dreams May Come" BTW. I really liked that movie.

Even though I've been a bit a troll lately, I still stick to my stopping at Boardwalk and not passing Go analogy. Your finish line isn't much of a selling point compared to what Mormon theology offers. Inviting your gay black neighbors over for a BBQ is a bit of an underwhelming ultimate human aspiration.

Using the term pussy is a bit juvenile if you ask me. I prefer technical terms like vagina.

I've always figured the etymological origins of the word 'pussy' as a reference to someone who is weak was a reference to a pussy cat. A vagina reference just doesn't make sense.

Reminds me of a great Arrested Development episode.

Indy is not acting like he regards this as sacred subject matter.

That's why I prefer "wuss," although I've never checked the etymology there.

I'll say this for those here such as yourself who hold the orthodox line. You're an eloquent bunch.
