      That's redundant.

Man, why y'all gotta be such dicks to Tex? The man just wants a reference to a story about an imaginary stake conference!

I am especially disappointed in DDD, who like Tex, believes stake conferences (as well as church lasting beyond 1 hr 15 min) to be imaginary.

I remember my first endoscopy, back when they used fun drugs like Demerol. As I was coming out I blathered on about the movie Coma and how I was glad I didn't end up like Tom Selleck. When the nurse didn't understand the reference, I then proceeded to recount the entire movie, including my fondness for Genevieve Bujold.

Now, they just use Propofol. You're awake, then you're not, then you're awake and then you go home. What a boring drug.

It got pretty exciting at the end for Michael Jackson.

I was in my residency when MJ died. For a long time after that, people requested to not have "that Michael jackson medicine".

I guess now they're calling it the Joan Rivers Medicine?

                I'm hopeful this becomes a classic...Thanks, Tex!

Following my own colonoscopy I was quite sure that my wife's sister had called and left a message that I needed to get a basketball from the doctor before I left since her son was going on a mission and would need one. My wife recorded most of it. I think my drug was Propofol (sp?) and I only remember coming out of it on the ride home.

Edit: Just saw NS' post about Propofol. That had a very decent affect on me.

Lucid or not, why is conducting a stake conference meeting an example of "church service?" That is a pretty weak example of service.

Reminds me a little bit of the stories about President Taylor near the end Tex. I tried to find its but could only find this part about him being so sick they could only get a little bit of beer or wine into him.

Beginning in June 1887, one month prior to Taylor’s death, Nuttall documented the president’s slow physical decline, including mental fatigue and delirium. Nuttall took his turn attending to Taylor’s needs and helped provide day and night protection from federal arrest. The president resisted making his condition public for fear the news would inflame resentment among the Saints and for a time even refused to inform his plural wives, accept the care of a physician, or draft a will. But with each passing day, his strength waned so he could tolerate only an occasional spoonful of solid food and “a little wine and a glass of beer” (June 30, 1887).

Yeah, trying to do conscious sedation in the ER after that was fun.

Now I feel cheated. I got nothing from the Propofol. I just remember waking up and I was good to go. Wasn't sloppy, didn't stumble, didn't slur my words...all the things you kind of look forward to with a real good buzz.
