I know several people who work for the church. Very good people. I want to say that upfront so the following comment is a reflection on the system, not the people in it.

I think the church is like a government beaurocracy. There are no profit/loss considerations. There is plenty of money available. Someone comes up with a interesting idea and it gets reviewed by people who are "fully invested". Of course in their minds all the members would love to see this and there are many people who would like to find out why they are fully invested. No one says, this isn't reality.
