Wondering what those in support of this action have to say about the following:

I have to say that there is a HUGE difference between believing something, and actively attempting to persuade others to join in your belief.

FWIW, email is an unacceptable form of communicating a notice of disciplinary action. Your only options are having two Melchizedek Priesthood holders deliver the message or sending it by registered mail with a return receipt.

Are they "teaching" this? Or are like minded people coming together in the internet age? Also, what exactly about petitioning for ordination of women is false doctrine? Where is the scriptural or historical basis for excluding women? From prohibiting women from giving or participating in blessings for instance?

They are teaching it. They have 6 discussions they are using to persuade people that God wants women to have the priesthood and that the leaders of the Church are wrong. Anyone shocked and dismayed by this is either (1) not paying attention, (2) not familiar with how the Church works, or (3) looking for another reason to mercilessly bash the Church and its leaders.

These people will be much happier when the church forces them to move on. Burdens will be lifted, Sundays enjoyed, and new opportunities manifested... Not how Monson would intend but I can still imagine him saying it. I just can't get worked up about this stuff anymore. Life is full of wonderful possibilities. I say move on and embrace them.

Technically it should be the June 3. Rock Waterman is getting it too. He doesn't have the following that the other two do (and he's more akin to the Denver Snuffer anyway) but it's part of what appears to be an orchestrated effort. Orchestrated by whom - that I don't know.

This is intended to ensure the subject of the disciplinary council has been served with notification of the disciplinary council. It is safe to say Kelly has notice of the disciplinary council with her posting the letter from her bishop on OW.

Not possible. In each case, local leaders are doing this completely independently. It's total coincidence that it happened at the same time. To believe otherwise makes you a conspiracy theorist.

I disagree. And honestly, all joking aside, I say this with nothing but sadness and rage. Who are the only ones who really feel bad about this? The targets of this purge are the progressive Mormons. The June 3 were not really apostates; progressive Mormons strongly identified with them. Progressive Mormons are being told, choose ye this day whom ye will serve.... It's getting harder to sit on the fence. I predict this will not be a very long or robust thread, and progressive Mormon involvement will be pretty much nil. From now on, either you live in fear of the knock on the door, or you cross the River Styx. I say this with nothing but empathy and rage on behalf of my progressive Mormon friends who have been thrown to the curb by the LDS Church.

Yes! Even if you stay you can move on. There are ways and both are equally enjoyable. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

What do they say then ... and what is their purpose? They are clearly designed to persuade people to question and speak out against people the Mormon faith contends are prophets speaking on behalf of the Lord. I know many here don't adhere to that belief, at least not in a traditional way, but it is what the Church teaches. This is classic apostasy, and its not surprising or shocking that there would be discipline associated with it at all.

I don't blame anyone for being upset about this. I have mixed feelings myself. My only point is that it shouldn't be surprising or shocking to anyone familiar with Church discipline.

Yes. But his case is somewhat odd, since he's already on record as saying he doesn't care because he doesn't acknowledge their ability to do so.
