If you believe Ralph Hancock, much of the BYU admin/faculty have already given in to the dark side.

You should read some of his articles. He is a master of sophistry.

He also went on a tireless crusade against Joanna Brooks back when she was in the national limelight during the Romney campaign. Lots of essays and blog articles picking apart her book, her public interviews, etc. It was funny because she just ignored him.

One of my Community of Christ friends has mentioned that the LDS Church seems to be going through what the RLDS went through in the 1970s. One of the major problems the RLDS had was orthodox conservatives throwing a fit over their church trying to deal with some of its history. In the end, the orthodox refused to go along with the changes. Today they are known as the "Restoration Branches," "The Remnant Church" and the "Restoration Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints."

I don't know that today's LDS Church is up for a large-scale schism, but the signs of such have been appearing with increasing strength and frequency since the Internet took off in the mid-1990s. This Hancock fellow certainly seems to be up for a fight of the most self-righteous kind.

"Moral relativism" seems like one of those dog whistles that gets thrown out by folks who are pissed about something but don't have an actual argument against it. What does it mean in this context? It seems like it's referring to carefully considered modern morality being superior relative to Iron Age/19th century dogma. If one thinks that's incorrect, they have a lot of work to do demonstrating it.
