    • Ballard giving the obligatory talk telling us not to call the church the Mormon Church!
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

        • According to Ballard, we should never call the Church the Mormon church, and we should only call ourselves Mormons if we accompany it with the full name of the Church. that's, going to really put a cramp on the video marketing campaign.

"I'm DH, and I'm a Mormon, aka a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints."
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I swear I've heard that talk from him before. Guess that's his go-to topic.
"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

              2) "Don't call the FLDS 'Mormon'. They are not part of our Church!"

He began by saying he was following up on prior talks he had given.

                        • I thought DU's talk on gratitude, even in the depths of despair, was interesting and, as always, well done. I'm curious how it was received by CS'ers who are currently enduring some very tough times.

                          • I wonder if GAs fight to not follow immediately after Uchtdorf. This wasn't even one of Dieter's top 10, in my opinion, but was still good enough, and contained enough profound ideas, that if I am Elder Ballard I am sitting there thinking "Am I really going to follow that up with the grand theme that we are not called the Mormon Church?"

That really wasn't ballads theme. I realize this might be Clark Addison's effort at humor or hyperbole, but the thing is his talk was about follow up and missionary work. I didn't think it was earth shattering as a talk but we should be fair about it.
