so far, lots of emphasis on not blowing your load . . .Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Just clicked on the live feed. I think the reports of TSM's senility are greatly exaggerated. He may be declining, but he still looks 'there'."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

Daring to lead off with Elder Uchtdorf. Putting the rock star on before the warm ups is tricky business.
I like Ballard, but the air went out of my sails. We went from another inspiring address by President Uchtdorf straight into a lecture about using the full name of the LDS, er...Mormon...er..Church of JEsus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in spite of the fact that the Church itself relies heavily on the use of terms "Mormon" and "LDS".
Momentum lost.
My sister's facebook feed is "Wow! Amazing!" after every. single. talk. *shrug*
Anyway, the thing got back on track for me emotionally/spiritually with the Choir's rendition of "A Child's Prayer."
It's a song that deeply touches me. It really resonated for me today.
"Heavenly Father, are you really there? And do you hear and answer every child's prayers? Some say that heaven...is far away..."
My brother and sister and law are visiting with their children this weekend. I had to get up and excuse myself. Tears filled my eyes.
Such a basic and simple question. One which I, unfortunately,never seem to feel is answered to satisfaction. A question I ask myself. A question I've asked to the heavens in exhaustion.
Are You really there?
So badly I want to hear:
"Speak, he is list'ning.
You are his child;
His love now surrounds you.
He hears your prayer;
He loves the children."

He seems to have recovered. A few years ago, he was noticeably disoriented and acted strangely in his address. Slurring words, etc. It was sad and at the time I wondered if he was going to be around much longer. He seems to be doing much, much better the past year or so.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostJust clicked on the live feed. I think the reports of TSM's senility are greatly exaggerated. He was really sick at the time, though. People at this age don't have a whole lot of reserve, and they can wax and wane with illness. (Something as simple as a urinary tract infection can make a 90-year-old completely mute and immobile.) They are all lucky to be alive.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostHe seems to have recovered. A few years ago, he was noticeably disoriented and acted strangely in his address. I liked Bednar's talk. I can't always say that, but I can this time.
TSM with a very nice talk. Be kind to others (SU's religion!)."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Monsons talk was superb"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I can barely understand Boyd k packer"Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum
"And here’s what life comes down to—not how many years you live, but how many of those years are filled with bullshit that doesn’t amount to anything to satisfy the requirements of some dickhead you’ll never get the pleasure of punching in the face." – Adam Carolla

I wonder, if he were to pass away, would they hold a solemn assembly for a new president of the 12? Or would they wait until October?Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostI can barely understand Boyd k packer"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Dear Elder Packer,
Thank you for your conference talk, and testimony today. I know that you know, and that brings me great comfort in continuing to be the best District Leader that I can be. Thank You.
Best to Sister Packer,
Elder clackamascoug.Last edited by clackamascoug; 04-06-2014, 01:33 PM.

They only have a solemn assembly for the new prophet. If Boyd dies then Tom will be President of the Twelve will be no solemn assembly. Will hear L Tom Perry sustained as President of Quorum of the twelve in Ward and Stake Conference's and next GC just announce L Tom Perry as President of TwelveOriginally posted by DrumNFeather View PostI wonder, if he were to pass away, would they hold a solemn assembly for a new president of the 12?
