I've actually never been. I haven't been to Italy in ages, and the section of the museum was still closed when I was there. Sad (use Trump voice).

Sure, but in terms of realism, volume, pervasiveness, ease of access, etc. I just don't think there is any comparison. Not remotely similar.

I loved Pompeii, but the structures that had all the pornographic art were closed that day for restoration, and I expressed major disappointment. Mrs. PAC rolled her eyes and noted my laptop was back at the hotel, if needed.

Wait, The Dude weighed his schlong? He must not spend as much time running this board as I previously thought because he clearly has time for other activities.

But Willoughby said it's a step too far to say his research suggests attitudes surrounding pornography are more harmful than pornography consumption.

He testified in 2016 in favor of a Utah law labeling pornography as a "public health crisis," and said that there are nuances to pornography consumption lost in the current social and religious dialogue surrounding sexual expression and sexual health.

"What I hope a bill like that does is get this issue out for public dialogue and discussion," Willoughby said. "It's not something as simple as banning all pornography or allowing all pornography. There's a lot of things in the middle that we need to understand."

                            • The church is in a tough spot on this one. On the one hand, there's solid research that indicates that the church's approach over the last few decades, with broad use of labels like "addiction," and over-reliance on guilt, has serious drawbacks. On the other hand, the church isn't going to turn over it's approach and decision making to the psychological community.

I'm hearing a few voices in the church trying to promote healthy sexual behavior, and I think they need to be louder than they are. On the local level, that means more reasonable people speaking up.

                              • There was an Ensign article a couple of years ago that I thought was pretty good about defining the different levels of involvement of porn use, making it pretty clear that not all porn consumption equals addiction.

On the other hand, my observation has been that the term addiction is used much more freely on the local level than on a global level. We recently had our stake addiction recovery program leader visit all of the Bishoprics in the stake, encouraging Bishops to counsel all of those members that are struggling with porn to attend the weekly ARP meetings.
